I was expecting a new forum design soon not a permanant shutdown. I seen a story that Topix was facing 15 counts of slander/libel and sounds accurate. If it was just bottom line they would have told us, just like they did a few years back with the Topix click bait game and their Politix site. I always felt they were being sued and the state gov'ts of WV and KY are not fans of Topix.
I was over at Reddit.com hoping some would find me, I do not do social media except for family matters. Not really a fan there. I met Pagan over there as well as SMF trying to stir schidt with me along with a couple others not affiliated with this group of posters.

Hello Icno. Never thought about you when writing that. :) was referring to assholes like SMF, Spaci and many morons who misspell worse that me. A SN tend to correct spelling to be an azz or deflect from responding, you always never deflected from giving your opinion on anything.

Imho topix had been on life support for at least the last 2 yrs, viewership dropped drastically, mods enabling trolls to run amok, posting pi and othrt hateful things theres no wonder everyone was leaving in droves. Id been posting around Pete since 2011 and I think he'll agree it was much different then, night and day of what it became in the end...Yes it was Sly .

The pace over there is slow and did not expect it to be my next landing but has a PM feature. When Topix went down I figured it would take awhile to hunt down contacts.

Dunno about calling it Welch but that is a good idea. I see your blank forum. Good way to bring the core group, think I will miss smacking around certain people but that is fine. Good way to talk about the good ol days of Topix, it was an adventure not like any other.

Actually a friend at Reddit, a former Topix poster who is in email contact with one of your friends and knows everyone in this core group told me. Said person wants to be anonymous at this time and I will abide by person's wishes. I asked about you and got a response later in the day.

I found it a few days after topix closed by searching about topix closing. They had a couple threads about Topix and its traffic increased shortly after. It is an old style collapsable message board, not my preference but have a few friends unconnected to this group as they never came to Welch and know nobody here. I used to go to a few other boards to get away from the repetitiveness of SMF and Spaci etc the final four months, kinda looked like I went away from there but not the case. They operated on a seven year old script and buried it into the ground,they went after CD over a non event from 2011. I was just sick of it..

She got banned over arguing with mods and had more to do with ET/ Quills from what I understood. The mods were not good at the end. I am glad to see that end even if it is because Topix ended, I hope to never see Kook or Spaci again...

To add to this, my doubts about the Chiefs has more todo with their historyof a choke mentality, this is only the 2nd AFC title game after the merger in 1970. Chiefs won SB IV year before merger and were an AFL franchise, not NFL, I know you know that as well. I was way to young to remeber that SB. Chiefs were the most successful AFL franchise but not the case in NFL.
Chiefs had several years in the past couple decades with a near prohibitive favorite but could not win as the top seed inthe Div round. They remind me ofthe old Houston Oilers, they had unstoppable teams in reg season but cannot. Win in playoffs, took them to move to Nashville to get to the SB.

I was a Redskin fan until the birth of the Carolina Panthers, I lived in NC when awarded that franchise and was a big deal to the city and the region and shared into all that.

I am kinda suprised of UT's lack of success in men's basketball but that school and their AD always kept focused on football and throwing cash there.
Alabama and Auburn as well as the MS schools should be good in basketball as the demographics are there for that sport in that region of the country.
I always felt UNC could succeed in football but stays focused on basketball. Never understood why most schools are good at one sport average at best in the other. WVU is one of the schools that tries to do well in both year in and out, our star player is out for the season and our Basketball season is lost, very young team that is expected to factor next year.

Totally agree with that. The lack of registration is what killed the place. Not sure whose idea it was not to require registration, but it was a bad one.

I used to live in Houston Texas for 8 months before we moved to Austin, texas. I went to Round Rock Tx to visit my bro in law and sister in law from German. the weather was 80 on Christmas eve 1984.. I never forget this!!!

The PI was the thing that used to make me angry. That was what people did when they couldn’t get the best of you. Cookie and her Gang were the worst for that and like I told them, where I was concerned, it never worked. I was there until the end....PI or not.

The mods were really funny in a pathetic way. They knew they couldn’t do anything about gray boxes, so they would inevitably go after the registered posters. In a way, I regret ever registering. It was like they could always hold your account over your head. Gray boxes didn’t have to worry about that and Topix had no recourse if they were using a VPN.

Some people may had issues, I am not one of them. I knew how to handle myself and knew not to bring personal issues into a forum that was not recommended and refused to take any crap. I enjoyed Topix myself and will talkabout it if I wish.

Why complain when it's so easy to simply find enjoyment elsewhere and leave those be that obviously enjoy something different than you? If I were to be blunt I would classify that behavior as rude and overbearing but I'm not rude enough to make those types of accusations regarding another.

Most have ignore features but does not ignore when quoted later by someone else not ignored. The quote button is used more than reply in the modern day anyhow. I probably would not use ignore feature at all as people can do it and I have thick skin myself, rarely ever go into a tirade myself. I would use it to eliminate spam style posts perhaps..

Oh how I wish I was! We had a storm last night and I woke up to no power this morning. It’s cold and raining outside and I’m stuck in the house with a cranky dog and wife. Hope you all are having a better day!

Your weather patterns are very misunderstood I think. I have seen winter blasts in Houston before on TV in the past though it may not be often. Your rainstorms can be ugly. Is lightning a severe issue there? It is in places like SC and FL..

We get crazy storms here. I spent most of life in the upper Midwest and we had some ugly storms there, but here I think they are even worse. I guess this storm blew in around midnight last night with high winds and heavy rains. I slept through it, but my wife was awake. She said she saw a bright flash and heard a loud explosion. The transformer in front of our subdivision blew. We seem to have a lot of power outages here.

We are in the middle of a weird weather pattern. We will get a few unusually warm days with temps in the 70’s and that has been followed by a week of bitter cold, rain, and high winds.

You need to buy a human powered treadmill and a battery operated full spectrum lamp. Possibly a generator would also help. Or earplugs. :P

I’m done with it. Had been done with it for a long time. There was nothing left but fending off lies and gossip from a small group of people. I used to venture out onto other threads and forums, but I really lost interest in that too because most of them deteriorated into nonsense, lies, and gossip. I do enjoy this more than Topix and I think that’s because it seems like more of a “controlled” atmosphere.
Exactly, it became pages and pages of the same bs, same people making the same comments and asking the same questions.

From what I’ve read I fear that Topix was a terrible place with far too much sock puppetry and grey boxes that promoted lots of dishonesty. So maybe it makes for a better place here? Idk.
I really can’t compare without the experience. But I do think that this place has a nice atmosphere, and with good people, comes good friends.

I think from what I heard that there was a lawsuit coming down the channels to Chris Tolles. I think Pete has started a great site where we can post about a variety of things.
You would think that they would have the decency to notify the lot, but not all will be so nice.
No doubt that decision was made from the owners.

I do enjoy this more than Topix and I think that’s because it seems like more of a “controlled” atmosphere.

From what I’ve read I fear that Topix was a terrible place with far too much sock puppetry and grey boxes that promoted lots of dishonesty. So maybe it makes for a better place here? Idk.
I really can’t compare without the experience. But I do think that this place has a nice atmosphere, and with good people, comes good friends.
Just my opinion.
There were just people who wanted to create discord and drama over everything. If I said my air conditioning wasn’t working there would be 25 pages of drama over that. If PL said she was going shopping, the trolls would erupt with a drama fest. There was no way to have a decent conversation there....at least not where we were posting.

Exactly. Topix people were searching here and there for our friends we lost contact with when Topix ended without so much as a days notice. To me, and of course i cannot speak for TP or anyone else, this is a nice place to keep in contact and not a recreation of Topix.
Topix had become standing water and was taking too much time just to fend off the repetitive bs.

No, Topix closed the doors and forced everyone out. I never left the place, nor did most of my friends.
My plans for Topix were, after Louis's birth, to only post to the private forum SD created for CD and remove all other threads from the tracker. So this is not much different in that respect. I can keep up fairly easy on this forum.

My biggest concern when Topix shut down was that I’d lose contact with some friends who I only knew from Topix. This place takes care of that...well most of it anyway. I do like this site better so far. Seems easier to use now that I am getting used to it.
Seems like over the last few years Topix was just phoning it in. They hadn’t changed anything about the place or upgraded it in any way.

Asked why I chose to adopt internationally instead of domestically even after telling them that at the time we chose to adopt that a birth mother could change her mind and that you could have had the child since birth and 6 years and 11 months later the birth nother could have that child back. It was freaking ignorant. We are grateful to their birth noms and I an grateful to all birth moms, not just my kids but all.

You’re welcome, PL.Thank you. We plan on having a great weekend. Next week we celebrate 25 years of marriage. People are always amazed that it lasted because we met and was engaged a month after meeting. We also celebrate our daughter's adoption day which coincidentally is the same day as our wedding anniversary. Hands down the best gift I ever got. Our son is at Job Corp getting his high school diploma and welding certification and it is ran like the military. He loves it. But we miss him.
And I must say that I really don’t bother with the judgeits, but I do like to express to some how much I like their comments, but I guess I can do without. lol

My daughter is adopted and now we have Louis. My love for both is the same. And also my stepdaughters of whom two i adopted as my own. They are all the children of our fam. Each one brings something amazing to my life.

Just found out that my grandson done with his 2nd publish book. he s working on 3rd. He s 18 yrs old. He serves for Army. I ordered 100 books from him 3 yrs ago on his 1st publish book. They still are on my bookcase shelf. The name of his 1st book is Reconnected. 2nd book is Final Thoughts. 3rd , the name will be The Blind SeaThat's great Timpa, I bet you are so proud!

Thank you. We plan on having a great weekend. Next week we celebrate 25 years of marriage. People are always amazed that it lasted because we met and was engaged a month after meeting. We also celebrate our daughter's adoption day which coincidentally is the same day as our wedding anniversary. Hands down the best gift I ever got. Our son is at Job Corp getting his high school diploma and welding certification and it is ran like the military. He loves it. But we miss him.
I feel for ya, when they leave it’s so hard to accept, but they always show up to thank you and show their love.

Thank you and he is showing the maturity that we were hoping he would. He is smart but in certain areas. He can draw anything and is good in science and math but in other areas he isn't as academically strong. His sister is good in all subjects but not as strong in math and science as he is. She also will tell you that she can't draw but she can play the flute, sing and plays volleyball. Lol.

He is with me most of the time. He never wants to be put down! I carry him about with me in the baby sling. He wants me to sit with him in Luka's big chair,he wants wrapped in his blue thermal blanket, no other will do. I still sing to him the songs i sang when he was growing inside me. He will go to sleep and i can then put him in his crib but only if an article of my clothing is there for him to lay on. He is strongly opinionated like his parents.
Enjoy your time with him. He will.grow quickly! I have to pick daughter up in a bit, get hair cut and then she is having a friend over for a sleepover. We got them pizzas and other junk food to eat. Lol, I will be enjoying my yogurt when they load up on sugar highs. Lol
Our girls all went skating for the afternoon. Dael has a part time job she has to be at later. Not sure the plans of Maddy and Nadia. Fiene is with her mama this weekend.

I used to get migraines so bad i had to go to hospital and they would give to me a shot. Have not had a migraine attack in over four yrs.

I was looking at all the members and it is nice so many have been able to reconnect, but it is very nice posting in peace.Yes I'm outside in a way. I'm driving a yard switcher now. I move trailers from our yard to the docks to be unloaded or loaded. A lot of in and out puts me in the elements most of the time. I still do some local moves if they need me to but mainly stay at the facility. I had gotten burned out with the stress and traffic down here. Got to where I had to do something.

When I was in a forum my account got hacked/broken into and my name tarnished because of someone else’s very sad and lonely existence.

I recall one time some of you were having a nice conversation about sports and Laci busted in all shook for the reason the topic was not religion. They would do that all of the time,just invent problems to have a reason to bitch. But always they would blame us and call us trolls even though their wicca thread was a thread created to troll persons of alternative religions. Obviously, now it is proved whom the actual trolls were. None of us have even attempted to troll anyone or anything here.
I see SMF over at Reddit, I had seen her recent posts over there and is talking god and pretending to be from Australia with her Google abilities. Think she is trying to convince others who she is I guess. She had not consistently posted there but posts of her every few days. Never seen a reference to anyone else from Welch board coming from her. I not spoken directly with it since the start of the New Year...
I saw FSM on Reddit a few times, still pretending to be Aussie. I lost interest in Reddit after a few days. Not my jam.
I doubt many of that group is together much since Topix cancelled. They really never had much in common beyond hating and trolling the same people.

It’s sad that there are so many lonely and angry people that want to bring you to their level when they have the opportunity and choice for change.
When I was in a forum my account got hacked/broken into and my name tarnished because of someone else’s very sad and lonely existence.
It isn’t enough to argue when they want you completely out of the forum altogether. But what they really want is to leave your life in ruin by taking it from you.
Your friends and your girlfriend are not immune when they attack.
I just hope that doesn’t happen here for the sake of myself, and other’s I care about.
But enough about me.
I feel this site due to it's smaller and more manageable size and having good mods, is safe enough. I find it to be a very positive place. Also is not so time consuming.

My recently deceased aunt who was 88 was a Braves fan going back at least to the Milwaukee days as well as a Colts fan, my family had roots in the Baltimore area once. She liked WVU sports but not NBA. She was the only girl in her family and had 8 brothers..

Point is taken but those elements has always existed since the formation of the modern day NFL in fact those issues created the modern NFL, in the 1960's the two conferences were their own league and politics and payroll isues got out of hand then, you did not need millions back then but they were paid well for that era as well..

Well, I guess with 6 Super Bowls he most certainly is and I can't imagine that title changing anytime soon. What a great accomplishment. It seems like no matter what, they somehow pull it off and more often than not it involves a great pass made by the GOAT.
I was pulling for the Rams but when I think about what Tom Brady's face would've looked like had the Rams pulled it off, I'm okay with the outcome.
The Rams were a year ahead of themselves, I wished it was the Saints in the game. Rams played poorly but that game was on a projectory for Pats to have the last posession and would have won 13-10 if Goff had not thrown that INT.
This Rams team should return next year but gotta see how the offseason does to them but looks like they got a steady team for next few years. And they got a billion dollar stadium coming as well. Rams will be noticible in the 2020's. The chapter of NE is almost over, they will win division next year as their division does not seem ready to take them on, just like the last couple decades. After Beliche k era, they will go back to wandering around and some other team will show up every year...

My sister in law called Jefferson County Attorney and told them that I am deaf. I need to communicate with family and friends on social media. The stalker prevented me and kept suspended my account every time. The prosecutor contacted the stalker. Everything stopped. It has been quiet and peace. I remember that TexasPete, Flatline and Sharlene were there when the stalker attacked me on the topix. Sharlene scooted her away. One of my teacher friends teaches kindergarten and she said she had 10 kids out one day and next day, she had 7 and that they were dropping like flies due to the flu. Even the school nurse caught it.
