Correct and then it's also regional__McDonald's, early on had company stores operating in the more populated areas and onesy twosy franchisee's out in the sticks. That changed over time and with the commissary set up all the locations use these days it's hard to tell the franchises from the company stores thus the current court battles regarding employee poaching.
As for KFC, the bulk of it's company stores, while having some dine in seating, were more set up for take out and that concept was perfect for the time. So perfect that there were actually independents selling dine in KFC right around the corner from company owned take out stores and both doing well__people liked that chicken__a lot!
It seems a lot of those restaurants have lost the quality of the food when some people started owning them. I think they were looking for get rich schemes and not about the taste and quality of the food to be served.
