I literally just got into an argument at dinner with my black sheep bro, when my cousin was here. I got tired of arguing and told him no more politics talk. He listened fortunately and had quite a few beers in him.
I tried to explain to him my whole it's not capitalism comment. There is no real incentive for private schools to compete with everyone to get bigger and bigger and have more and more students attending their campus, with them building a bigger school continuously. He was acting like all this competition would be great and would lead to better results. It does nothing to improve the system. It's just a way for rich people to get tax dollars for sending their kids to private school, while leaving less money for the children of parents who are less well off and have no choice but to send their kids to public school, regardless of vouchers.
For a person like him, if he didn't have my parents and if he actually raised his kids, and didn't mooch off my parents who raised his kids, such a system would have done nothing for him. He wouldn't have a penny to kick in of his own money to pay for tuition, all of which isn't covered by vouchers. He wouldn't want to spend money on gas, much less take the time, driving them to and from school. He'd be lucky if he wasn't living on the streets with his lack of discipline and how he has shown no responsibility in his life. Dude won the lotto having my folks as parents. He doesn't even realize how lucky he is, how much he has benefited, and most importantly, not a lot of people have that and parents like mine. Yet he's MAGA as eff.
