Healthcare and healthcare insurance was reasonable before the government began to f**k with it starting with Medicare.

The same thing happened with education.  Once the federal government began dumping billions into it costs started going through the roof.

There are colleges with designer dorm rooms and they compete to attract students by providing super nice awesome dorms.  That is inefficient waste of money spent on education.  As a nation we should strive to educate young adults as efficiently as possible while achieving world class results.  <<< that should be the goal and culture.

True. College was once reasonable too. It wasn't cheap, but reasonable. Trenton State College was the place to go for the average person when I graduated from high school.

Dumping money into something is a demand increase that raises prices.

Bernie the Bolshevik complains about Bloomberg buying votes while democrats have been doing that since FDR. Doesn't Bernie know that promising free college is buying votes?  What Bernie doesn't tell you is in Europe's free college not everyone goes to college. A test taken in eighth grade determines that.

European's kids are also put on tracks and it determines  which path that child will go. We saw that when we went to Europe.

Exactly. It's not free college for everyone as Bernie says. You don't go to high school if you're not going to college. You're "tracked" toward an apprenticeship or trade school.

It's certainly not liberty

Yeah I don't for sure but I would wager you also have a much harder time later in life if you want to and are capable of getting a degree because you weren't on the right track for that in high school and probably can't even go to college unless you go back and take the right high school classes.

Seriously it drives me up the wall that Democrats either lie about or conceal or are oblivious to the many pitfalls of the never-ending schemes they continuously dream up.

I do think there are some reforms to higher education tho that should be in the spirit of our historical Greek and Roman roots any the renaissance and the enlightenment.  It's problematic in the sense that higher learning is dominated by people who have an antagonistic and highly naive view of our roots ... a hatred in many cases.  The reality is that our forefathers were amazing ... were they perfect, no ... in many instances they were men of their times and had views that we find revolting today ... same will probably be said of us in 1000 years, probably much less time than that.  To demonize and not emphasize our roots when it comes to education and free open thought and celebration of our ancient ideals is harmful and not even morally right.  It is precisely these negative views that permeate many levels of higher learning at many institutions across the county.  We also have many of our most prestigious universities who are jeopardizing our national interests when it comes to China and their reliance on foreign money and donations.

So things need to change.  I agree with that.

We also are flooding our country with people who do not share those cultural roots and in many cases have a value system that is incompatible or incapable of adopting traditional values that have lead to our culturing dominating the worlds culture more or less in many ways.  Actually not all value systems are equals. You aren't even allowed to really feel this way ... in today's world you must view culturally inferior value systems as victims of our value systems and it's all horse shyte and not even useful for a solution.  Bill Gates can dig all the effin wells he wants but until people in Africa start raising children like successful people do in Western Nations to the same degree you aren't going to do anything to lift people out of poverty.  Giving people water and paying for them to subsist and breed more people who will aspire just to subsist doesn't reduce poverty.

Many people from cultures that have a negative view of western society too.  They also aren't planning on fully integrating.

Another thing will Bill Gates digging wells ... if you as a nation can't figure out how the eff to dig and bore your own effing holes in the ground ... as if this is some advanced futuristic technology and your cultural expectation is to sit around and die of thirst until some rich nerd from America ponies up money to dig you a well, you are royally effed as a people and there isn't jack shyte all the money in the world could do to fix this.

This is how the UN operates on every level when it comes to development.  It's like the dumb leading the blind.

That sounds like socialized destiny.
I am sure it is for them and what works for them won't necessarily work for us. I would hate to tell some kid because his or her family has never been to college that they shouldn't go to college when that kid desires to go.

Exactly.....but I would unconditionally refuse to tell a kid that even if it meant my job.
Some kids aren't college material,  I have told kids that trade jobs pay great money and more than some college graduates. Not everyone is meant for college.

Some kids aren't, you're right. Only the kid should decide if he or she is college material. There is no right or wrong choice in regards either....as someone   (other than what the kid in question)  might think.
Exactly

One thing I know for certain is that overzealous coaching of kids towards college or towards trades can have some disastrous results. It has to be the kids' unaltered and from the heart decision.
That is why we haven't pushed our son towards college. His heart isn't into it his heart is into working as a welder.

That's it. In a statist society, the state decides.

I have a BA from one of the best universities in the country. And boy am I glad I do!
I don't remember a shred of what I learned except how to tap a keg and make a marijuana pipe out of a toilet paper tube and tinfoil. . But there was wall-to-wall chicks, a bash every night and I got a dandy diploma that cost my parents what was probably a small fortune at the time.  The most important life lesson I learned though, is that if you aren't self-employed and pulling down your own scores, you're a punk, someone else's bicth. Which explains a lot about most of the mo's posting their weasely nonsense on the internet instead of producing.
I hope when I'm old and useless, I don't spend my retirement "philosophizing" to a bunch of people I'll never meet.

Your parents should have gone on a cruise instead of wasting their money.

What cost you nothing is worth nothing, eh?

Sounds like you are parenting right in this aspect.
I did some copper welding a while back at a hydroelectric facility in Canada. also did some pipe and pipe support welding......Made enough money to buy the ranch.

If your son ends up liking welding, he could make twice as much getting into welding exotic metals.
He is taking welding at vocational school and has teally liked it. He will be certified in mig, tig and something else. He would like to work as a military contractor in welding.

That's awesome. I am sure he will make it as long as he pursues his interests...... He'll make a real good living doing that too.
He is planning on it. Daughter wants to be a veterinarian.  I told her I could get her through medical school faster than what it takes to be a veterinarian.
