Remember when egg prices were breaking everyone’s backs? Turns out the prices were fixed.

This punishment isn’t fitting the crime. The difference between $1.2 billion in profits and a $3.3 million fine for lying to consumers is insane.

The math isn’t mathing.

BREAKING: THIS IS ALL HIS FAULT! Furious soccer fans erupt in rage at Trump for ruining the US Men’s World Cup team with his wildly corrupt power play to get star player Balogun’s red card revoked!
Everything he touches dies…
America’s surprisingly dominant World Cup run ended in humiliating fashion tonight after Belgium beat the pants off the US National Men’s team, and angry fans know exactly who to blame: Donald Trump.
During the last game, star player Folarin Balogun was given a red card and a one-game suspension…until Trump personally called FIFA’s president, and the red card was rescinded soon after.
The Belgians were rightfully furious at the flagrant show of corruption and showed up to play like they were mad as hell, scoring four goals while the US Men’s team played out of sync.
Twitter immediately became a fiery rage-pit directed all at Donald Trump.
“unironically no joke zero doubt in my mind: Trump’s fault. He made himself the story and psyched out the team F*CK HIM. HE DID THE SAME SH*T TO THE KNICKS HE IS HUMAN F*CKING POISON EVERYTHING HE TOUCHES TURNS TO SH*T!” yelled political analyst Josh Ettinger (@ettingermentum) into the digital void.
“Haven’t seen America this thoroughly embarrassed on the world stage since we lost that war we started with Iran like 3 weeks ago,” mourned @lukeisamazing.
“It’s cool that Trump doesn’t even like soccer, he just enjoys cheating. Doesn’t matter what the game is. He just loves circumventing rules and ruining things for everyone else,” complained @Integrity_Freak.
“We can still win this game if Mike Pence has the courage,” joked @PFTCommenter.
“Knicks game 3, now this… the Trump curse is clearly real” wrote @sam_d_1995.
“All Trump’s corrupt act ended up doing was poisoning the well, ruining the vibe and inspiring a Belgian team who were already superior to the USMNT. A sad but poetic ending to an otherwise very positive campaign from the USMNT,” said Jordan Patu.
Hard to argue with any of that!
Oh well. He definitely won’t have any interest in the Women’s World Cup, which America has won four times, so at least we still have that?

I have no idea but all of the assistance programs are and have been a mess.  Instead of a hand up they seem designed to keep people down.

We can do better

I had just bet like a total of $40 bucks on the USA to win on 3 different parlays.  Then I am watching the pregame and the announcer say the Belgians beat the sh1t out of us in a friendly match earlier this year.  I immediately told my son, I sure wish I knew that before I placed my bets.  I wouldn't have bet anything.

It makes sense that they lost.  Belgium was clearly the better team.  Our defense was atrocious.  I could have prevented that one goal, the one with the whole team just standing around the ball and no one making a play for it right in front of our goal.  You didn't need to be the greatest player ever to prevent that goal.  Just have a pair of legs and go get the ball. It's like they had never played soccer before.

My European coworkers were asking if I think soccer will be more popular here now.  I said, I don't think so.  When I was a kid my siblings and I all played youth soccer.  Even then, once you got to junior high and high school, football is what we all wanted to play.  It was only the preppie kids who played soccer.  None of my kids ever played soccer.

Only my one good friend was really into soccer.  His mom was Swedish.  (He wasn't preppie and 3 years older than me and would take me out drinking when I was like 14-15 years old ... first time I ever got drunk it was in Swedish glogg that his mom made).  He's only person I really hung out with that played soccer beyond youth league.

I have only watched soccer when the World Cup was here.  I'd rather watch hockey or baseball or football or college basketball.  This are my favorite sports to watch.  I have been watching the cubs games most every day.  I don't like even when they have a day off, like they did yesterday.

Yes, a hand up is meant to be temporary and not a depenency and certainly not generational...

Tanker set ablaze after being struck by projectile in the Strait of Hormuz
Suspicion immediately fell on Iran, which is suspected of attacking other ships using an unapproved route along the shore of Oman.

You know that brought on retaliatory strikes by US before

Trump offers to lift sanctions on Turkey that could lead to F-35 jet sales
Trump had banned Turkey from buying U.S. military jets in 2020 after Ankara bought an anti-aircraft system from Russia. Congress adopted a law blocking F-35 sales while Turkey has the Russian system.

I don't care for soccer or hockey.  Starting to not care for baseball.

It's probably mostly what you grew up watching.  My dad was always really into Chicago teams.

The NBA is the one sport I don't care about anymore.  Nothing could match or top the Jordan years and living in Chicago-land.  I didn't watch baseball hardly at all until recently after the cubs won the World Series in 2016, too.  It was like a weight being lifted.  I remember my German great grandpa listening to games on his headphones and calling them a bunch of bums.  He still listened to them.

My sister was talking about his German singing club.  We used to go to the "German picnic" every summer where all the men would sing and we'd cook out.  I guess they went to Germany on trips and sang.

The cubs winning it all was like a generations of disappointment lifted.  Then of course, nothing lasts for ever, and you have to rebuild the team as guys leave or get old.  So, I hadn't been following or watching much baseball since they won it all.  At least they won one.  Anymore in my lifetime will be gravy.
