HELL YEAH! A New Yorker hits ICE with a massive lawsuit after they sent intimidation agents to his house for sending them an upset email.
These thugs have completely lost their minds...
“I cherish our right to speak openly about issues of public concern,” said David Streever, the plaintiff. “I hope others will not be discouraged from peacefully expressing their views, even when those views are critical of the government.”
Streever — who it should be noted is a legal U.S. citizen — sent an email to ICE's former Acting Director Todd Lyons in the wake of the Alex Pretti and Renée Good murders. He called Lyons a "monstrous human being" and “America’s Reinhard Heydrich, the butcher,” a reference to one of the most infamous high-ranking Nazis in the SS.
“The way you are protecting the obvious execution in Minnesota, even as we see the videos, will lead to your downfall,” Streever wrote.
Months after he sent the email, DHS agents arrived at his home in Rochester. Streever was traveling in Europe, but the agents gave his wife a "warning notice" which absurdly stated that the completely benign, harmless email was being considered a "threat."
Never once in the process of loading up into their vehicle, driving out to Streever's residence, knocking on his door, and delivering their agency's terrifying message did the agents stop to consider the fact that this man was simply exercising his right to free speech under the Constitution.
Apparently, in Trump's America the First Amendment only extends to MAGA supporters.
Thankfully, Mr. Streever is no shrinking violet. His lawsuit reveals that DHS officials later tracked him down in New York City after he was back in the U.S. They repeatedly left him voicemails demanding that he sign their ludicrous notice.
His suit accuses the agency of retaliating against him for daring to criticize ICE's leadership in a blatant violation of his First Amendment rights.
“Americans have a clear right to criticize government officials,” stated JT Morris of the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, which is representing Streever.
“When federal agents come to your door and ask you to stop engaging in political speech,” they are engaged in “an act of intimidation that the Constitution doesn’t tolerate," he added.
The suit also named DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin as a defendant.

Bernie Sanders says he told Graham Platner to ‘step aside’
It’s Sanders’ first comment since POLITICO reported on Monday that a woman who dated Platner says he sexually assaulted her.

I understand the law in Maine is if he drops out by July 13th at 5 PM then party has 2 weeks to pick a candidate

From Guardian:
State law doesn’t dictate the exact process for selecting a replacement nominee, but there has been consternation among some Democrats about a closed-door party selection, which would bypass a competitive process that effectively allows voters to repeat the primary process.

“If a process for selecting a new nominee becomes necessary, it will be open, transparent, and inclusive,” said Devon Murphy-Anderson, the Maine Democratic party’s executive director, in a statement. “[The party] hopes that we have broad participation of Mainers and Democratic voters in what happens next. In no scenario is there a legal possibility for a nominee to be selected by an individual campaign.”

Shah called on Tuesday for a process that was “as open and transparent as possible”, with debates and town halls.

US strikes Iran and reimposes oil sanctions as ceasefire faces one of its most significant tests

Iran attacked 3 ships in last 24 hours.
They want to control Straits, route you have to take and charge tolls or fees.
US says not proportional attacks but meant to be punishing attacks on Iran that will quote go on for awhile.
US says Iranian attacks endangered innocent civilians
--
In a statement posted on X, US Central Command said its forces had “begun launching a series of powerful strikes against Iran to impose heavy costs for targeting and attacking commercial shipping crewed by innocent civilians in an international waterway.”

“The U.S. strikes are in response to Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels that were transiting the Strait of Hormuz,” the statement said. “Iran’s demonstrated aggression was unwarranted, dangerous, and a clear violation of the ceasefire.”

The statement came soon after the US reimposed sanctions. Collectively, they marked one of the most significant challenges to the fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran. The economic move, in particular, eliminated one of the central concessions made to the Iranian regime in exchange for its reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

“Iran will only reap benefits if they exhibit good behavior,” a US official said in a statement. “Iran’s actions in the Strait were wholly unacceptable to the United States and will be met with consequences.”

It has jolted global oil prices — Brent rose 3% on the news to $76 a barrel but remains close to pre-war levels. US oil surged nearly 6%, rising back above $70 for the first time since June 30.

The US Treasury Department had initially agreed to lift sanctions on the sale of Iranian oil for 60 days as part of the ceasefire agreement, which Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent characterized at the time as a show of confidence in the two nations’ “productive talks.”

In a blow to President Donald Trump's efforts to investigate the 2020 presidential election, a federal judge quashed a grand jury subpoena July 7 seeking information on 2020 election workers from Atlanta's Fulton County.

"The breadth of the Grand Jury Subpoena ... is staggering," targeting personal identifying information for "thousands of employees and volunteers," wrote Judge William M. Ray II, who was appointed by Trump to the federal bench in 2018.

A series of audits, recounts and court cases have failed to produce evidence that would support Trump's assertions that Joe Biden beat him through widespread fraud, but Trump has continued to promote his unsubstantiated claims.

The subpoena sought names, residential and email addresses, and personal phone numbers for an array of 2020 workers and volunteers, including people who reviewed mail-in ballots, transferred results, tabulated ballots and assisted with a later audit and recount.

In first game
  Argentina 3, Egypt 2
Messi scores 20th World Cup goal and 8th of these games(1 goal today) the most he has scored in a World Cup.

Apparently Egypt pizzed. I saw a bit of it over goal they think should have counted
a referee they didn't want to be on the game
and "external and internal factors before and in game"

It was no easy win as  Argentina becomes first team to win a knockout game in regulation being two goals behind behind with fifteen minutes left

I told you Egypt was mad(about as mad as I am at Elliott for not coming today)

Egypt were down and out - and downright furious after the video assistant referee (VAR) ruled out a second goal by Mostafa Zico for a foul after midfielder Marwan Attia was penalized for slightly stepping on Lisandro Martinez at the start of the move, when they were leading 1-0.

They were also adamant Mohamed Salah was fouled in Argentina's penalty area, seconds before the reigning champions broke for the winner.

When French referee Francois Letexier signalled full-time, many of Egypt's players slumped to the floor in disbelief at what had just happened.

In an explosive interview after the game, Egypt boss Hossam Hassan said his side had been "treated unfairly" and "suffered injustice." BBC Sport has approached Fifa for comment.

"There have been a lot of things to be questioned on and off the pitch," he added.

"Negative aspects all around. It's just about credibility, lack of credibility with how things unfolded.

"Perhaps they wanted to keep the world champion in the competition. Perhaps they wanted Messi to stay in the running.

"The world champion received support at every level. There seem to be pressures from the Argentina side on this outcome."

This match had everything - a penalty save, a disallowed goal, a red card as well as a thrilling comeback.

Dems Wishing There Had Been Some Sort Of Sign That Platner Was A Bad Person

U.S. — In the wake of sexual assault allegations being leveled at Senate nominee Graham Platner, Democrats were left wishing there had been some sort of warning sign that he was a bad person.
