In first game
  Argentina 3, Egypt 2
Messi scores 20th World Cup goal and 8th of these games(1 goal today) the most he has scored in a World Cup.

Apparently Egypt pizzed. I saw a bit of it over goal they think should have counted
a referee they didn't want to be on the game
and "external and internal factors before and in game"

It was no easy win as  Argentina becomes first team to win a knockout game in regulation being two goals behind behind with fifteen minutes left

We watched Colombia v Switzerland.

I had a meeting at 6 and was up early.  I was going to run around 4 PM and had all my running clothes on.  Then I looked at my calendar and saw I had a work activity and had to meet 4 other lawyers for drinks and appetizers ... in 15 minutes.

It was fun.  They are all in my group now and told me I can come to the office and work in their office with them.  They said it's crowded.  I said with the hours I work, it's more logical that I work at home.  If it's useful for me to meet people in person, I will, but it's usually not necessary, unless it's a big project.  The one guy invited me to join a running club of people he runs with.

I just had two glasses of mic ultra.  I am gonna run now.  First time.  So, it begins...

It was tied at the end and they had to do penalty kicks.  The goalies just guess which way they will kick the ball to and jump to that side.

You may recall me saying a time or 6 that you should never take a news report that is just a regurgitation of a police report as gospel.

I jumped in the bathtub with my tooth brush in my mouth.  Washed myself in less than 10 minutes.  Threw on casual dress clothes and ran out the door.  I was only 15 minutes late.

Did the police cam not capture the correct license plate?

The statement came soon after the US reimposed sanctions. Collectively, they marked one of the most significant challenges to the fragile ceasefire between the US and Iran. The economic move, in particular, eliminated one of the central concessions made to the Iranian regime in exchange for its reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

“Iran will only reap benefits if they exhibit good behavior,” a US official said in a statement. “Iran’s actions in the Strait were wholly unacceptable to the United States and will be met with consequences.”

It has jolted global oil prices — Brent rose 3% on the news to $76 a barrel but remains close to pre-war levels. US oil surged nearly 6%, rising back above $70 for the first time since June 30.

The US Treasury Department had initially agreed to lift sanctions on the sale of Iranian oil for 60 days as part of the ceasefire agreement, which Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent characterized at the time as a show of confidence in the two nations’ “productive talks.”

If this drags into the midterms then Iran wins even more.

I think that is exactly what Iran wants.  Iran can weather this storm but trump likely cannot weather a Dem majority congress.

I didn't catch any explanation of that but they sure did not investigate much if any.  A quick look at the vid and a quick look at the car would have been more than enough to realize they were barking up the wrong tree.

I told you Egypt was mad(about as mad as I am at Elliott for not coming today)

Egypt were down and out - and downright furious after the video assistant referee (VAR) ruled out a second goal by Mostafa Zico for a foul after midfielder Marwan Attia was penalized for slightly stepping on Lisandro Martinez at the start of the move, when they were leading 1-0.

They were also adamant Mohamed Salah was fouled in Argentina's penalty area, seconds before the reigning champions broke for the winner.

When French referee Francois Letexier signalled full-time, many of Egypt's players slumped to the floor in disbelief at what had just happened.

In an explosive interview after the game, Egypt boss Hossam Hassan said his side had been "treated unfairly" and "suffered injustice." BBC Sport has approached Fifa for comment.

"There have been a lot of things to be questioned on and off the pitch," he added.

"Negative aspects all around. It's just about credibility, lack of credibility with how things unfolded.

"Perhaps they wanted to keep the world champion in the competition. Perhaps they wanted Messi to stay in the running.

"The world champion received support at every level. There seem to be pressures from the Argentina side on this outcome."

This match had everything - a penalty save, a disallowed goal, a red card as well as a thrilling comeback.

I don't see how the police could even say it was that family's car unless you could see the license plate or somehow prove it is the only car of that model and year in the entire state with that state's license plate.

The thing to do in that situation is not even tell the police who was driving the car, even if it's your family car.  Let them prove who it was beyond a reasonable doubt.

Any 1st year lawyer will tell you to never speak to police unless your lawyer is present but most US citizens still have the idea that speaking with police might help.  That is not the way police operate now days.

As to the plate, maybe they had a partial and matched it to a sort of similar car then ran with that instead of actually doing their jobs?

Having watched 1000's of cases now, I am of the opinion that a very significant potion of police misconduct originates with laziness on the part of the officers.

Indeed.  There is always that possibility. You might even be murdered for doing so.

That is a very large problem we have

I spoke with my dear friend Mitch McConnell this morning as he continues his recovery. We talked for nearly 20 minutes about Graham Platner, low gas prices, and Greenland. I told him Washington needs him back soon. He responded with the same silence he used to kill voting rights.
