I don't know about any extraterrestrials coming, as there is a lengthy distance we're talking about here, but okay, go for it.
I believe they prevented nuclear war several times...but that is also way off topic...As far as AI goes, you are right..We need to be cautious at every step of the way as AI in the hands of the wrong people could indeed be very dangerous....
