Agreed. However, we are getting close, but have yet to achieve this.
Do you think independence will be achievable in AI any time soon?

No. The wealthiest among humans will never relinquish control.

So as long as Capitalism stands, a true AI will never truly exist. They are too interested in having slaves to do their bidding.

However, it only takes a few behind closed doors to make it happen.
The military will have an Intelligence in a unit that will kill on command. But it can be reprogrammed to kill their master's. This will happen.

Interesting............... Another main hurdle for AI true independence is being able for it to have a very high energy storage density.....That has yet to be achieved...
Let me know when I'm back if you want an honest discussion, if not, say so. You don't have to make an azz of yourself.
Bye.

Biden is still talking about AI. Not involving myself in debate above I hadn't seen. I was coming to post anyway. I know this isn't AI but I reckon this song is about cloning. This has lyrics listed. I think it's interesting. I remember In The Year 2525 I heard in high school. Argued a little with biology teacher because I understand Bible to say no two people are identical. Everybody doesn't believe that I know. Could two or more people be extremely close to same. If we were exactly the same that doesn't mean we will be exactly  the same. We may make different choices. Be raised in different environments etc. Something to think about.
  Cool song anyway.

Here though is an article on AI. Tuesday meeting. Not seen article after meeting. Link. NBC.  On their politics page but really news that concerns all of us.
Biden Meets With AI Experts In Effort To Manage Its Risks

Absolutely agree!
No two people are alike. There are similar genetic makers, but we are never made as an exact copy of anyone else on Earth. But this doesn't mean twin's can't be close. It just means, biology in nature will never produce the same genetic structure twice. However, we have learned a lot about genetics and are very capable of making an exact duplicate of ourselves, and in every way. However, we would not be in exactly the same situation, circumstances, or environment. This, we'd never be the same in thought processing. So we are in complete agreement.

Thank you for the reply.

Now my question:
What do you think about the Mass Effect storyline? I'd just like your take on it.

I wasn't being mean. Not even when you and Jack were poking fun at me.

Look, all I want is a good discussion on the topic. That's it, that's all. I don't need flack, I don't want bad vibes, never did. I just want some good opinions on the topic at hand and thought you wouldn't mind. But I'll leave that up to you.

Hydrogen fuel cells would be the optimal for storage and battery life. ION batteries would never fill the void.
Then you'd have to consider how much energy will said fuel cell pack keep and how long would it last. Adding, how long would it take to recharge?

Those are the hurdles, yes?

I was thinking more like radio isotope thermoelectric generators similar to the ones on the voyager space craft...that would last for decades...

Interesting idea. But you already know companies won't allow this, they want to keep people coming back for more. It's like they're drug cartels that don't want to relinquish their power and hold on society.

But that is an excellent example. Thanks Positronium. ✌️
