I have never been to Canada but have talked with plenty of my friends who actually live there and they say the health insurance sucks.

Amen. I have a friend in Ottawa who had to spend some of his inheritance on surgery in NY. 30 grand

Yeah, it's a great hospital... They have resturant menus, feed you anything you want... To my knowledge they don't even bill you if you are poor and cannot afford it... Same in another one called Marcum Wallace... Really nice hospitals...

And they have sweet tea.  ;D

Sounds like you came out in the better end. It is pretty sad that you couldn't enjoy vacations. My husband, the kids and I always enjoy ours. We make a list and esch person decides one thing they really want to do, one thing that is educational and then each person gets to do one thing they want on their own.

That sounds like a great idea.

It's hard to explain but for me any substantial debt hangs over me and I am always mindful that it's there.  It's against my life philosophy.  It makes me feel insecure too.  Financial security is very important to me.  I eventually want to get to point where I am working not cause I have to hit because I want to or am working just because I want to sock away large amounts away for retirement.  I would have told you this was a goal when I was a teenager, actually.  That is who I am.  I am super saving oriented.  Seriously someone like me is so fundamentally incompatible with my ex, lol.  We are like oil and water financially.

It's also not that I didn't enjoy vacations. It's just that cloud always there hanging over me.

My father-in-law went bankrupt from medical cost and he HAD insurance and he was himself a surgeon.  He ended up with diabetes and Parkinson's and it drained every nickel he had..... and it was a lot.  Canada's health care system is superior to ours. So is France's. Almost all developed nation's have better service than ours.

A couple years ago, I had to go to an ER for something... an injury.  I went to the hospital I was born in on the east side of Detroit...on a Saturday night no less. It was insane. They had metal detectors at the door. There was blood and urine all over the floor.  The medical staff was barricaded behind a locked steel door. While I was there, a Detroit cop car came screeching up and two cops pulled a third cop that had been shot out of the back seat and carried him in.  Some stoned black guy wandered in carrying a dead baby by the wrist. A fckng freak show,. I just wrapped a bath towel around my leg and split and went to an urgent care joint in my own neighborhood to get stitches.

France is beginning to permit private supplemental insurance. The government covers only about 85% like the Medicare here.

And, the socialist idiots are demostrating in the streets. Their government pensions are running dry.

We are going to Georgia this summer and to see one of my last living aunts. We don't always spend vacations with family but they asked if we would come and we are staying with cousins. We plan on doing some deep sea fishing and going into the Okfeenokee Park to tour and for me to photograph some wildlife for a friend.

You're trying to somehow impress us with what a stunning success you are because, despite that your life is in shambles, your skank ex-wife that dumped you cold has a debilitating disease and that makes you better by comparison... That's your measure of "a good life".
Damn. And here I am plodding along with a stable marriage, a happy healthy and well-adjusted child on the honor roll and zero debt.  So you think your juvenile insults are doing what?  Gee. I guess you showed me!

Not trying to impress anyone.  That's you projecting your being impressed and then you get all defensive at the end and try to say you are better than me.

Wow, you sure are an easy read and a sad creature.

My goals are for me, not to impress you or anyone.  I don't give two sh 1ts about what you think about my goals.  Same can be said of my accomplishments.  I didn't do it to impress others ... I did them for me.  Go read about ENTJs.  You aren't as important to me as you seem to think you must be.

And all you do is a trolling act. You remind me of another whiny biatch from Topix who would do the same thing to divide the board and exploit tensions, you are not her but it is a similar act... You have an agenda aginst this particular place..

In the end it will be you that loses here...

I don't give a sht. I don't live in France.  I live in Michigan...upper right hand corner, shaped like a mitten.

You want to bring France here. Do you think you're special or something? In the end, the same results.

That sounds fun.  I'd like to do deep sea fishing again.  I did it only once ... it wasn't great fishing ... I did catch a huge sting ray and it took me about a half hour to get it to boat ... way to big to get in the boat.  I was exhausted.

I don't know what we are gonna do for vacation.  I don't want to do anything too expensive as I will just be out of debt and I want to start building my reserve and investment fund.  I can go to my folks and spend maybe 2 grand and still hit my goals but I may have family down here by then.  My nephew is coming at least.  So we may just stay here and we can do weekend trips and beach trips which would be perfect.

Next summer we will do something nice.

It's gonna be fun with my nephew down here ... he turns 21 in December too.  I'll go out with him sometimes.  My family is like that ... we all go out together.  It's a Midwest thing.

The one thing I remember about Carolina Beach when I was a kid was being stung by a jellyfish.   :)

This is what ruined Topix. A bunch of internet losers that have to force their way into any and every discussion and make stupid, childish comments to try and get a response. How utterly boring.

Hahaha, so it's everyone else?

Yeah my buddy did once too north MB.  I guess they are there.  I never have been struck.

We were joking that someone needed to suck the poison out, lol.  He was fine.  I don't remember it causing any long term pain.

I just like the beach life too.  Even if you aren't actually on the beach.  Everyone is happier and more chill by the ocean.  It's just a wonderful place to be.  The air smells clean.  I love the beach.

Then don't read them or respond. If you don't like the conversation, you are not obligated to reply.

We go to the beach about every other year. We have always enjoyed the beach.
