I don't like too many girl rock bands.  Nothing personal.  I just don't like the sound, but she rocks:

Mallory McMorrow dropped out of the Democratic Senate primary in Michigan on Sunday, narrowing the field to two as the party faces a crucial choice next month in picking a nominee to defend a must-win seat.

That leaves Rep. Haley Stevens facing Abdul El-Sayed, a candidate running from the Bernie Sanders wing of the party who is trying to extend the momentum progressives have seen in recent primaries across the country.

McMorrow’s exit ahead of the early August primary doesn’t just reflect her own struggles, but also an emphasis among many Democrats to stop El-Sayed, out of fear he would be a weaker general election candidate against former Rep. Mike Rogers, a Republican.

McMorrow, in a video on X, touted her achievements as majority whip of the state Senate and urged her supporters to “elect Democrats up and down the ticket” in November, though she did not endorse either of her former opponents.

“Whoever wins this primary on August 4 will have my full support,” she said.

Stevens, the favored candidate of Democratic leaders in Washington, acknowledged McMorrow’s prominent position in state politics in a statement Sunday, calling her an “important voice” on “policies that benefit Michigan’s children and families.”

Speaker Johnson says House will pass Trump’s voter ID bill through arduous process after GOP revolt

He wants to pass it through budget reconciliation but that may not work in Senate. Didn't before.

many Senate Republicans are skeptical that they could muscle the legislation through under their strict rules around the budget reconciliation process.

During the last reconciliation push earlier this year, Senate parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough ruled that Trump’s expansive voter ID bill did not comply with the chamber’s rules dictating which legislation is eligible to be in a budget framework.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune has long resisted calls by Trump to fire MacDonough, as well as demands to eliminate the filibuster rule.

Though many GOP senators warn against blowing up the filibuster and empowering a potential future Democratic-led Senate from more easily pushing through their priorities, others, like Trump ally Sen. Ron Johnson, argue that Democrats would nuke the filibuster on their own.

'Free speech': Trump aide pressed to condemn White nationalist group

He never condemned it.
-

A member of President Donald Trump's Cabinet was pressed in a new interview to condemn the White supremacist group Patriot Front, which marched in Washington on July 4.

During the interview on CNN's "State of the Union," host Dana Bash asked Interior Secretary Doug Burgum about a now-viral photograph which showed a Black woman surrounded by masked White nationalists on a train car.

Patriot Front members were spotted on Independence Day outside Washington's main train station, Union Station, and the Eastern Market metro stop near the U.S. Capitol building. The group is a secretive organization founded in 2017 by Thomas Rousseau following the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, where counterprotester Heather Heyer was killed.

When questioned by the CNN anchor if he was concerned about the group's presence, the Interior secretary applauded the nation's 250th anniversary celebrations and told Bash, "we know from our very founding that this is something that divided our nation." He praised the leadership of Abraham Lincoln during the Civil War and said, "we can be an exceptional nation because our ideals are exceptional, that all men are created equal."

Dozens wearing symbols of White supremacist group gather in DC on July 4
Bash then asked the former North Dakota governor if he condemned Patriot Front's actions and values.

"What they stand for is nothing that I could possibly agree with," Burgum replied. "But one of the foundational principles of the United States which makes democracy messy is free speech."

"There are plenty of things that I see that I might personally find offensive, [reprehensible,] but in America, free speech is allowed and this is by the whole spectrum of things," Burgum told Bash.

He then noted that America is a country where people who support communism can be elected, even though "this is what our nation has stood against and fought for because we're about life and liberty. We're not about death and tyranny."

Bash asked if he would recommend that his boss condemn Patriot Front.

Burgum told Bash that "part of my response to that is there are protests on the [National] Mall that people say things that I think are [reprehensible] about President Trump, and yet they're allowed to go on because of free speech in our country."

In videos that circulated online, hundreds of members of Patriot Front were seen carrying its flag, Confederate flags and variations of the U.S. flag, at times chanting "Reclaim America." The group posted on social media confirming that members gathered in the nation's capital on July 4, but they were not seen at major Independence Day festivities.

You getting any action on the beach?

😜

I was with my boys.  Even without that, I don't really ever try to pick up girls, even when I am single, like I am now.  If I am a dating site, sure, but I am not interested in that now.

I have some funny stories of girls throwing themselves at me when I was married or dating and younger, but you don't get to pick when that happens.  It always happens when I am taken.
