Trump, who underscored his interest in the birthright issue by taking the unprecedented step of showing up in-person for the high court’s arguments on it in April, seems resigned to losing. He said on Truth Social last month that the justices would “probably” rule against his policy because the court system is “rigged.”

The justices also have the chance to complicate Trump’s immigration policies if they conclude his administration cut too many corners in trying to end special protections that allow citizens of war-torn and disaster-stricken countries to legally live and work in the U.S., sometimes for decades.
