I just looked at all this info. I didn't see anything on how to unlock a start up disc for the 7600/132 mac (1996) But there was info on this model. Thanks anyway. I will bookmark this link in case I need any info on here for another technical issue I may have with my other 2 macs. Thanks lots of info here.
I am sorry that wasn't the information that you were looking for but perhaps this other info will shed some light on how to unlock yours.

How do I unlock my Mac computer?
To get started, you will need to restart your computer. Press the Command and R keys at the same time when the grey screen appears and hold them until you see the Apple logo. A small loading bar will appear under the logo. Sit tight as your system boots into Recovery Mode.

Would that be a floppy disk?

Thanks, but you've spent enough time on this already. It's a very old mac, and its really not a big deal if I don't get it going again. Maybe it just went dead.

It's possible that he locked it or even encrypted it.

Thanks for the link, very good info. My mac shows a blinking question mark at start up without the start up disc, that means it cannot find the hardware to start up. So when I put the start-up disc in it does start up, only so far, then stops. If that disc was unlocked I could get into the settings, but I have no idea how to unlock the start-up disc. If I could just unlock this disc maybe it will start from the hard drive, after I select hard drive from this disc.

If he did that, he's an azz!

Maybe this is a glitch?  I remember on Reddit I had to wait 10 minutes between posts, the threads I was allowed on, cuz I had a low karma score, I left and never went back.

Does it give an option around the lock symbol to enter a password?

No, no symbol, no password, no nothing. Who knows, thanks again for all your efforts.

Thanks for this link, it does talk about the question mark thing, but I can't unlock the disc to start it up.

Can you post the message you're getting so I can copy and paste and search it?

By default, 4,294,967,296 personal messages may be sent on a forum. Since this is a much larger number than the members you can have, it's unlikely you will ever reach it.

You sent over 20 personal messages in an hour, I think there is a setting like that but that's not going to happen a lot.20 pm's a hour is a lot, one every 3 minutes.
