Riding my big wheel down our sloped blacktop driveway, and spinning when I reached the bottom. Did this over and over all day long. Age 5.
I played with my rock and stick.

I remember my brothers and I always got socks and underwear for Christmas. Our stockings always had fruit and one chocolate Santa. We got books, coloring books and crayons, and a toy. We always had a real tree. Christmas was wonderful. Later when I was older I learned that my mother would use green stamps to get some of our toys. My paternal grandparents would always fly to visit us wherever we were and the trip to the airport was a delight. My maternal grandmother would send us each a Christmas card with a $1.00 in it.

I had 4 cousins...all boys...and every year their 'real' Christmas tree was put up by Santa on Christmas Eve. The tree lights were shaped like little candles and they bubbled. Boy, did I like those lights. My tree never had those kind of lights.

That's my Childhood Christmas memory.

When we were kids Pete, people didn’t go all out like they do now.

People decorate more for the holidays now than they did when we were growing up.

Well yeah, PL. There’s only so much you can do with candles and strings of popcorn. LOL
