Hmmmm ..... Harry Truman, a Democrat mind you, got us involved with Korea.

Soon after succeeding to the presidency he authorized the first and only use of nuclear weapons in war.
Truman oversaw the Berlin Airlift of 1948. When Communist North Korea invaded South Korea in 1950, he gained United Nations approval for the very large policy action known as the Korean War. It saved South Korea but the Chinese intervened, driving back the UN/US forces and preventing a rollback of Communism in North Korea.

The war ended in 1953 and was the decision of Ike and his GOP congress of that year to keep troops there and no succeeding admin disagreed with that. It was the right decision, US has troops in Germany and Japan ever since WWII as well. Truman was unpopular his final year but history put him in a much better light...
