Angie Báez, who went viral for dumping trash over the weekend, was described in her bio as someone whose “dedication to making a positive impact shines through in every aspect of her work.”

Ouch!  She was fired this week.

If you don't do stupid sh1t in public, you don't have too much to worry about if you happen to be on camera.

"Executive Director of Community and Industry Engagement for Card and Connected Commerce at JPMorgan Chase"

What a horrible choice to make, especially given that title.

Dumping trash all over the community for others in the community to walk all over and for others in the community to deal with cleaning up is quite the community engagement.

I almost feel bad for her.  That's a heavy price to pay for a stupid mistake.

I thought DC was safe and free of criminals?  They had ICE on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. I have been there 3 times in the last 6 months. What a bunch of BS.

If oil came from fossil fuels, we would have run out years ago,

Oil comes from the Earth. The research has been done on this.

Wait, what? Oil comes from fossil fuels. Do you understand what that means?

I always liked YYZ

Important ruling
Federal judge blocks ICE from making arrests at US courthouses
U.S. District Judge P. Casey Pitts of the Northern District of California also limited how long the Trump administration can hold noncitizens in temporary detention facilities.

ICE under Trump has made widespread use of the practice of arresting noncitizens making routine appearances in immigration court. According to the case brought in California, the Department of Homeland Security immigration enforcement arm had turned "immigration courthouses and routine reporting check-ins into dragnet arrest operations."

The administration has also made widespread use of holding noncitizens for sometimes days at a time in facilities that do not have beds or limited access to food and restrooms.

"Immigrants who show up to court — “the right way” — have been targeted by this administration," the El Paso-area representative said in a statement. "So glad to see this blatantly illegal and cruel policy struck down."

Trump pretty much had to change his endorsement in South Carolina governor race.
Lt. Gov. Evette he originally picked lost last I saw 2-1 to Wilson that he later co endorsed

Mamdani sweeps Democratic establishment in NY primaries: 5 takeaways

Are Democratic Socialists the future of the Democratic Party? I can't think that is a winning strategy to win national elections maybe primaries in progressive areas.
I sure don't see supporting no police and no borders(I mean no deportations even for murderers and rapists) as winning strategy.
Other factors in some of these races were age wanting younger candidates.
Overlooking issues for issue of affordability.
Is Mamdani the successor to 80 year old Bernie Sanders?
What does this do to Mamdani's national profile? Rival to AOC now?
He couldn't have done this without making enemies of powerful incumbents and more moderates he took on
On the other hand maybe he felt confident he would win which in New York in these districts he did.

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani expanded his influence June 23 by sweeping all three Democratic primaries for Congress where he had made endorsements against more mainstream liberal contenders.

The 34-year-old democratic socialist's choices were pitted against House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, also of New York, in what will likely be viewed as a big and successful early test at establishing a new faction within the national party.

"The old politics that got us into this crisis is not the politics that’s going to get us out of this crisis," Mamdani said at Valdez's victory party.

Other Democratic primaries to replace longtime incumbents — such as New York's Jerry Nadler and Maryland's Steny Hoyer — also drew attention for further demonstrating the party's generational sea change, including the declining significance of the Kennedy family aura.

All these races were intramural referendums in liberal districts over how to combat the affordability crisis, billionaire interests and President Donald Trump's administration.

Blind support of Israel is becoming more of liability than credit. Even among Republicans Israel is losing some support
Notice Trump mad at Netanyahu over Lebanon hurting chances of peace in Iran
Of course he supported genocide in Gaza

The Mamdani slate included Brad Lander, Darializa Avila Chevalier and Claire Valdez – a trio who favored abolishing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and labeled Israel's actions in Gaza a genocide.

Lander, a former New York City comptroller who does not identify as a democratic socialist, was the first to pick up a win Tuesday. He defeated Rep. Dan Goldman, a former prosecutor who steered one of Trump's impeachment trials.

But like many mainstream Democrats, the congressman's fortunes were increasingly tied to past support for Israel.

Goldman was slammed for refusing to decline support during this race from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC, which has become a significant split in various Democratic primaries this year. Preliminary results showed Lander winning by a 2-to-1 margin in a district covering lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn.

"It is time for the Democratic Party to walk away from dark money — from PACs funded by crypto, Wall Street, AI and AIPAC," Lander said during his victory speech on Tuesday. "People can see through this. They have seen through it for a long time."
