It's preordained, and absent massive societal transformation, Russia is screwed and only destined for further decline this century.  They are lucky they have decent farm land, so they won't starve, or else they'd become like a nuclear armed Haiti, just a lot bigger size geographically.

Haiti would probably be more well off if they could grow sugarcane and sugar was worth a lot of money, like in colonial times.

Same holds true for what's coming for Russia and their oil.

Innovation-wise, even today, Russia contributes about the same to global technological advancement as Haiti does.

Nothing I can do about it.  I also don't care if people take pictures of me or video me when I am in public.  I'd only care if I was doing something I shouldn't be doing and it got me in trouble, in which case my thoughts would be I shouldn't have behaved like that, rather than saying someone shouldn't have filmed me behaving inappropriately.  It's all in my control, whether it becomes an issue or not.
She doesn't get that cameras and videoing are everywhere. Nothing can be done about it if you are in a public place..

House and Senate passed same language.
First time. Mostly symbolic but tells mood of Congress
See Collins and Murkowski don't always vote with Trump.
Cassidy that Trump campaigned against voted for it.
See it matters when Mitch isn't there. He has always voted for Trump on it.

The Senate adopted a resolution on Tuesday directing the president to remove military forces from the conflict with Iran, a significant rebuke to Donald Trump and a strong message that the war lacks support in Congress.

Democrats have repeatedly forced votes to limit Trump’s war powers in both the House and the Senate — a campaign that has gradually picked up more GOP support in recent weeks, drawing the president’s ire.

GOP Sens. Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski and Bill Cassidy joined Democrats in voting for the resolution, while Democratic Sen. John Fetterman voted against it. The final tally was 50-48. The absences of GOP Sens. Mitch McConnell and Dave McCormick, who have previously voted against advancing war powers resolutions, contributed to the measure’s adoption.

That much is good.

Hormuz evacuation plans emerge after months of gridlock
A global effort to create an evacuation lane includes the International Maritime Organization, U.S., Iran, Oman and other countries.
06/23/2026 04:12 PM EDT

An international coalition on Tuesday announced a large-scale plan to free hundreds of ships trapped around the Strait of Hormuz.

The operation, developed by the United Nations-chartered International Maritime Organization, is backed by the U.S., Iran, Oman and other Gulf countries, the group said. It intends to put an end to the monthslong ordeal that began when Iran closed the strait in retaliation for U.S. and Israeli attacks in February.

The deal will mark the end of “months of hardship and distress” for more than 11,000 seafarers who have been stuck in the strait, said Arsenio Dominguez, the IMO secretary-general. He called it “a decisive step towards restoring maritime security and bringing to an end the unacceptable attacks against civilian shipping.”

“We have secured the necessary safety guarantees and have thoroughly verified the conditions for safe navigation to support these operations,” he said in a statement.

The group did not provide any estimate for how long it would take to clear the backlog of about 500 ships, though experts have previously estimated it would likely take weeks.

An IMO announcement essentially describes a temporary, one-way corridor through which stranded ships can exit the strait in controlled groups — necessary because Iran is believed to have mined other typical shipping lanes through the strait.

It is unclear how many ships will be able to cross per day while demining work is ongoing, but a senior Omani military official warned in a bulletin that there was an “elevated risk of collision” that would require a “gradual and controlled evacuation.”

The Oman Navy has established a northern and southern evacuation route, close to the coast of Oman or Iran, according to the bulletin. Each ship will be given a specific window to cross.

Sounds good

House passes sweeping bill to lower housing costs, sending it to Trump’s desk
The bill, a rare bipartisan breakthrough this Congress, will seek to build new homes and restrict large investors’ buying up single-family homes.
The bill, a rare bipartisan breakthrough this Congress, will seek to build new homes and restrict large investors’ buying up single-family homes.
NBC News · nbcnews.com

The bill passed 358-32 one day after it cleared the Senate by a vote of 85-5. It now goes to President Donald Trump, who is supportive and is expected to sign it into law.

It is a rare bipartisan achievement for a largely gridlocked Congress in Trump’s second term, giving Republicans, who control both chambers, a desperately needed victory on the politically potent issue of lowering costs just months ahead of the midterm elections.

The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act includes grant funding and pilot programs to build new homes. It would also ease some regulations and empower local governments to expedite reviews to build housing. And a key section titled “Homes Are For People, Not Corporations” would limit any “large institutional investor” from buying single-family homes.

Global confidence in Trump stands at 23%, Pew survey finds

President Donald Trump likes to boast that under his leadership, the United States is the “hottest and most respected Country anywhere in the World.”

However, according to a new Pew Research Center survey, the president’s approval ratings among adults around the globe are at an all-time low. Pew surveyed 42,151 citizens of 36 nations and found that a mere 23% of international respondents expressed confidence in Trump’s leadership on world affairs, while overall sentiment about the United States is “largely negative.”

From his standing on the world stage to his handling of numerous foreign policy issues, here’s what you should know about global perceptions of the United States under Trump:

76% of international adults have ‘no confidence’ in Trump
All told, a median of 76% of adults across the 36 nations surveyed have “no confidence” in Trump, as Pew phrased it, compared with 23% who do have confidence in his leadership.

Somebody posted approval number
Look at economic approval number below that
30% overall and 26% on economy

President Donald Trump’s approval rating has dropped to a new low in a recent American Research Group poll, with just 30% of Americans approving of his job performance as the 2026 midterm elections approach.

The survey, conducted June 16–20 among 1,100 respondents (plus or minus 3 percentage points), found 66% disapprove of Trump, the highest disapproval and lowest approval ever recorded by the pollster during either of his presidencies.

Americans have also continued to sour on Trump’s economy. According to the newest poll, only 26% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the economy, while 70% disapproved.
