Senate GOP eyes funding bill with Jan. 30 end date
It’s longer than appropriators would like but shorter than fiscal hard-liners are demanding.
https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/11/07/congress/senate-gop-eyes-funding-bill-with-jan-30-end-date-00643271

Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) said that while Senate Republicans had mostly gelled around the date, there were still conflicting feelings within the conference, and conversations would continue.

The end date is longer than what appropriators had hoped for: They were pushing for a deadline in December to keep pressure on lawmakers to quickly reach a larger, full-year funding deal.

But House and Senate GOP leaders have been privately pushing for more time and were viewed as most likely to settle on a January date. Notably, the Jan. 30 timeline is one of the better options for House GOP leaders at this point, given that some fiscal hard-liners, who want to keep government programs running at flat funding levels, are pushing for a stopgap into November of next year.

Senate Appropriations Chair Susan Collins and fellow appropriators met Friday afternoon to discuss finalizing a package of three funding bills that could ride alongside a continuing resolution for remaining agencies.

“Susan is gonna finish this off soon,” Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) said. He added, though, that Democrats are “dragging their feet” to close out any agreement to reopen the government.

Mullin accused Democrats of moving the goalposts in their funding talks, including in their offer Friday to vote on a three-bill “minibus” and a stopgap funding patch alongside a one-year extension of expiring Affordable Care Act tax credits.

“It’s an absolute non-starter,” Mullin said of their demands.

As been posted Democrats have made an offer on 1 year ACA extension and here's a link.
Republicans don't sound too open to it. I think they want reforms to any extension such as income limits etc. Before you couldn't owe over 8.5% of your total income on premiums

Senate Democrats propose 1-year Obamacare subsidies punt in new shutdown offer
https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/11/07/congress/obamacare-punt-democrats-shutdown-00642467

Schumer also proposed creating a bipartisan committee to negotiate a longer-term solution for the subsidies and other health care reforms, to begin its work after the government reopens.

Senate Republicans have warned repeatedly that the government has to be reopened before Democrats get any vote on the ACA subsidies. But Democrats have balked so far at those terms as they pressure President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans to cut a deal now to address the expected spike in Obamacare premiums.

“This is a reasonable offer that reopens the government, deals with health care affordability and begins a process of negotiating reforms to the ACA tax credits for the future,” Schumer said. “Now the ball is in the Republicans’ court. We need Republicans to just say, ‘Yes.”

Key Senate Republicans immediately ruled it out, however, with Majority Leader John Thune calling it a “nonstarter.”

“The Obamacare extension is the negotiation,” he said.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) posted on X that it would unduly benefit health insurance companies to blindly extend the subsidies: “Another year of insane profits at the expense of consumers and American taxpayers,” he wrote.

I'm okay with that. Sounds like he turned his life around. Already served his time.

Trump pardons former MLB star Darryl Strawberry

Strawberry was a superstar on the diamond in the 1980s, ultimately playing for four teams across 17 seasons and winning three World Series titles, smashing 335 home runs and racking up 1,000 RBIs.

Strawberry pleaded guilty in 1995 to one felony count of tax evasion and served time in prison for other charges.

It was with the New York Mets that his star burned brightest, including winning Rookie of the Year in 1983, and as one of the cornerstones of the 1986 championship team. But he struggled with drug addiction for much of his career, and has since been open about his recovery and faith.

“Mr. Strawberry served time and paid back taxes after pleading guilty to one count of tax evasion,” a White House official, granted anonymity to discuss the pardon, said in a statement. “Following his career, Mr. Strawberry found faith in Christianity and has been sober for over a decade — he has become active in ministry and started a recovery center which still operates today.”

I'm going to post this again on SNAP because this words differently from CNN.
This is NBC. It's saying administration would pay full benefits "for time being while appeal plays out."
Later the appeals court denied administration request to pause yesterday's court ruling ordering full benefits immediately

Trump administration says it will fully fund SNAP while court appeal plays out
An appeals court later denied the administration's request for an emergency pause on a judge's order to fully fund the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

The Trump administration told states on Friday that the Agriculture Department will immediately begin funding SNAP benefits in full while its appeal of a federal judge's order to do so makes its way through the courts.

In a memo obtained by NBC News, Patrick Penn, the deputy undersecretary of the Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services, informed states that the USDA “will complete the processes necessary” to fully issue SNAP benefits for the time being. The funds could be available later Friday, the memo said.

U.S. District Judge John McConnell on Thursday afternoon ordered the administration to deliver full payments to states by Friday, chastising it for delays that he said have likely caused SNAP recipients to go hungry.

On Friday morning, the Trump administration asked a federal appeals court for an emergency pause on the judge's order. The administration said in a court filing that because of the government shutdown, there is only enough money to pay partial benefits in November.

The First Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday night denied the administration's request to halt McConnell's order. The ruling means the Agriculture Department must pay SNAP benefits in full for the month of November, starting Friday.

Trump administration asks Supreme Court to stop order requiring SNAP benefits be paid

The Trump adminstration filed a last-minute appeal with the Supreme Court to block a court order requiring the government to provide full SNAP food aid benefits to millions of Americans by Nov. 7.

The administration filed that request on Friday after the Boston-based 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals declined to intervene.

It's around a 2000.  It's a TJ.  We aren't sure.  We are gonna look at the vin when we get home.  My son has a 2001 wrangler sahara and it's the same except it's a sport.  There is very little difference between the TJs regardless of the model year.

OK, old enough for this advise.  What I have learned about vintage autos is that one of the first things, and best things to spend your time and money on is to replace ALL of the rubber. Every bushing, every single bushing, if you think it needs it or not. Assuming your engine and trans, clutch if you have one, is good  That is the best thing to restore "like new" drivability.
