A second ransom note regarding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie indicated that she died, reports say.

The Guthrie family received two notes in the days after the 84-year-old mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie was abducted from her Tucson-area home in the early morning hours of Feb. 1.

Both notes were sent to media outlets in Tucson and were determined as potentially credible by investigators. The first note demanded cryptocurrency for Nancy Guthrie's return. The second note said she had died shortly after her abduction, but did not include an apology or request for payment in exchange for her body, news reports say.

After the second note was sent, Savannah Guthrie posted an Instagram video featuring her brother, Camron, and sister, Annie, saying the family would “pay” for their mother's return.

“We received your message and we understand,” Savannah Guthrie said. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace.”
She was dead 3 days after she was kidnapped. Her medical alert that she had or pacemaker had quit working by then.
