It is but there's a message beside it that says it doesn't work well. See below.

HelpEnable spell checking
this does not work on all servers!

It would be cool if it work here Pete. I am reading it may be possible.

Enable spell checking - Enable spell checking. You MUST have the pspell library installed on your server and your PHP configuration set up to use the pspell library.

Thanks Pete... I just really hate being a poor speller and looking like a simpleton. If we could get spell checker up and running it would be helpful to all. If not possible... thanks for your efforts. Thanks Pete!

I tried the same thing, sorta. I tried writing my post as a draft in a yahoo email with spell checker... and had it all perfect... but then when I copy and pasted from there it turned out all messed up here and formatted wrong. I am glad you catch my drift. Thanks

I'm thinkin maybe it's the browser you're using Cowface.
I'm using Google Chrome and have had no problems with the spellcheck. (I can't speel for crap either)

What I'm having a problem with is this site won't let me preview my posts...

I can't preview either. I am using a Chrome book and Chrome browser. I can't find a spell check option in the reply compose window. From what I read in the user manual this option has to be turned on and enabled for the whole board by you Pete. I dunno.

Pete I just checked on my Mrs. lap top and don't find spell check capability there either,  but when I checked on my cell although there is no spell check here on the site... my phone does do a spell check running through the cell key board. So I went into the settings on the Chrome Book I am on now and I confirmed I have it spell check enabled. Oh well... guess I will have to learn how to spell like a big boy.

Here is a helpful hint on another subject.

.

How to link directly to a Forum post
« on: August 22, 2012, 12:43:24 PM »
You can link to a forum post directly.

To collect the URL for a specific post, click on the subject of a post.

So, for example, the subject of this post is "How to link directly to a Forum post."

Click on the subject line.

The URL for that particular post will then appear in the address bar of your browser.

Select and copy the URL from your browser.

Then you are ready to paste the link into another post

It is a very interesting place over at the host SMF New board Pete. Lot to learn for moderaters over there. I learned some helpful stuff there that I can use just as poster. Still have to read some more. I originally went searching there to learn about the origin and history of SMF New host that supports our boards. It appears they have been around about as long as topix and are orignally Simple Machines.  Pete I salute you for choosing an excellent host company on which to build your board and online community. We are all very grateful to you for giving us this home. With respect for your choice.

Everyone probably knows this already, but I found it helpful... you can go in settings and set the order of all thread posts to show up the most recent post first at the top every time you open another thread. By default your account is orignally set up to show the very first post at the top when you open thread instead of the most recent. This can be changed in your settings.

I looked at the spell check problem and that's over my head, I'm not that
computer savy. Chrome has a spell check extentsion that I just added(free)
that you may want to try.

Spell Checker extension for Chrome. It's easy to use and fast. This extension supports 25 languages for spell check.
