In a way this is a childhood memory of my daughter's request for a cat when she was 15 - she'll be 31 this year.
I obliged and brought one home for her.
She turned out real mean - has a raccoon tail with the temperament of such, too.
I'm the only one that can pet her - but, not for long - then she bites your ankles.
Now, I've looked this up and some pros say it is a sign of affection - but, I beg to differ.
So shortly afterwards, off I went to fulfill her dream and brought home "Garfield" which was one of my very first avatars that I used on Topix1.
He's a cuddly bum, but watches over the yard like a Hawk.
He struts in one night with half of his ear torn off.
Gosh, what to do.
I froze his ear and brought out my trusty fishing line, and sewed it back on.
Just kidding, I did use surgical thread..
I have many raccoons on my property - apparently, Garfield didn't want to share his kibbles - most recently, in fact.
The fight ensued - the damage was beyond my own personal capabilities.
Off he went to the vet - $1200.00 was my contribution.
My daughter asked me if I was friggin' nuts, but I just didn't have the heart to put him down.
He's my love bug, and still struttin' his stuff and protecting my yard from any future invasions.
At this rate, it will be Freedom 85 for me. lol
Sounds like the story of my life... I never was one for cats... but my wee little daughter wanted a kitten... so we got her one. One morning I went to go to work... and I started up my truck... and I heard a thump, thump, thump
