The Chinese kill 100 million sharks a year to use in their disgusting cuisine. They have brought tigers, elephants, rhinos, pangolins, sun bears and countless other species to the brink of extinction with their greed and bizarre superstitions and witch-doctory.
In China SEX is a byproduct of HEALTH. Weird deal those folks have going on over there.

But then even here, just about everybody does everything in order to get laid.

All I can say is that I'm glad my Lily White English/Polish ass isn't Xenophonian and this thread is dumb.

It's not that deadly.  I think our species will survive.

I hope so, and not just a select few.

The three most populous nations on Earth in order: China 1.44 billion.  India 1.38 billion. United States 0.33 billion

Same countries listed in order by area: US 3.8 million square miles.  China 3.7 million square miles.  India 1.27 million square miles.

In India, there are 650 million people that do not have toilets in their homes..... twice the population of the US in a country less than half the size of the US are using the street as a latrine.

Jesus Christ. I feel like washing my hands after typing this.

Me too!

This brings to mind an event on the fringe of my memory. When I was a child, there was a plague going around that all of the children were falling to. As hard as it is to believe, my mother sent me to the house of quarantined victims of that awful scourge in order that I would become purposefully infected with their pathogen.
Now I don't feel guilty about not feeling guilty about never visiting her in that 'home' my sister stuck her in.
So after having survived the  Pox, I have no fear of this Chinese Flu coming our way.

Sounds like Mommie Dearest (like the movie character), or maybe she just wanted to you to help the sick quarantined victoms.

Thinking back, they also performed unnecessary surgery on my when I was like 5 too.  They lured me into a hospital with a promise of ice cream, knocked me out and cut something out of my throat.  Maybe it was army doctors. There was a lot of that kind of thing going on back in the 60's.  I have a weird circular scar on my shoulder too where they shot something into me... they probably implanted a microchip under my skin.    It was a magical time.
Probably your tonsils were taken out. And they gave a vaccination that is the round circular shot. I have one but I am not into that I was implanted with something.

I was pregnant with my son when my first two girls got Chicken Pox. We were in San Francisco visiting family. Chicken Pox can cause some problems for an unborn fetus. I called my Mom to see if I had had chicken pox and she couldn't remember. I had to get a test to check to see if I had them - turns out I had a mild case at some point in my life so I couldn't get them again. My oldest daughter had a couple of chicken pox that showed up and my second daughter was covered head to toe. Not sure why I'm even posting this - I suppose like the different reactions my girls had to Chicken Pox the same is true for Coronavirus. Most of us may not even know that we've gotten it.

I was wondering how your Mom was doing. My Dad died on Tuesday - been a rough week.
I am so sorry to hear about your Dad, CC. My father would be 91 this coming week if he was still living. I miss him a lot as I was always his girl.

Thank You - the shock has worn off and now I just feel eh. My parents live (lived) on 8 acres. It's a beautiful piece of paradise. There are a good 20 bird feeders and my Dad would go out daily and replenish the bird seed. My Mom will continue with that. I did it for 2 months last year after they were in a head on collision. I'm originally from NY - Where their home is.
Time sometimes heals all wounds.

That doesn't sound magical. Maybe in those days people thought that was the best thing to do for healths sake.

Your post about the throught thing reminds me of a part from a movie with Tom Cruise called Money I think.
I'll try to find the clip on utube.

When I was a child, they would march us down into tunnels under the school and made us sit cross-legged on the floor against the wall.  We were happy to get out of class for those drills and were glad knowing we would be safe if the Russians attacked us with atomic weapons.
And in the summer, a man would walk down the street tacking paper signs to all the elm trees warning people to move their cars out of the street. Then a truck would come by towing a trailer with a guy sitting on a machine that sprayed up into the canopy of the trees.  The other kids and me would run after the truck laughing as the DDT fell down on us like a cool rain. The man on the trailer would wave and smile.
Those were great times. The world was never so orderly and safe as it was during the Cold War. Al Kaline. Neil Armstrong ...and so forth.

Interesting. I didn't know the cold war took place in the 60"s. I was never good in History.

Sorry to hear that, my condolances. My dad doesn't remember who I am. We were close, but that all changed.

The US Military (probably USAMRIID and CDC) has set up 15 "Quarantine Camps" around the country in anticipation of the necessity of housing people infected with the Chinese plague. Wow man. If I get infected, they'll probably try and send me to Detroit. That's far worse than whatever the plague could do to me. I suppose that in that event, I will go on the lam.
Good restaurants, terrific music, what's not to like?

Tad bit chilly presently though.

You can imagine what's going through my mind up here. These hillbillies have a reason why they think it's necessary to kill everything that moves...raccoons, marmots, deer, coyotes.... It's sickening. That's why I hope the 2nd Amendment gets repealed and private gun ownership gets banned. Because the same people that get off on guns are the ones that kill living beings for entertainment.  Listening to their bullshit enrages me.  Coyotes are dogs.  When my ducks see my car pull in after work they come running. I couldn't even imagine anyone wanting to shoot them for no other reason but because they are trying to compensate for their own insecurity and feeling of powerlessness and lack of nuts.  It's obscene.
Christ. I wish I wouldn't have got started on this rant. I could go on for days.
Not everyone who owns guns hunts. Guns are for protection. Coyotes being dogs also have been known to take down a calf and once they get the taste of blood in them they continue to kill. Farmers depend on those cows for a livelihood depending on whether a beef or dairy cow.

I don't need "protection". I'm not against guns per se. I just don't like gun weirdos. And despite the fact that there is coyotes living in my backyard, or maybe my house happens to be in their backyard, I have never had a bad encounter with them. I'm glad they're here. If I didn't want to live around them, I'd move back to the city. Then I would have to worry about real predators and I probably would be inclined toward carrying a pistol again. I'm not sympathetic to farmers and ranchers and their non-stop whining thinking they deserve special rights either. If they don't want coyotes get to their calfs, they should keep them secured.
They shouldn't have to worry about coydogs getting to their calves. You can't determine when a cow is going to calf but most cows prefer having calves out in the field over being penned up same as horses do. You obviously don't have a clue how some farmers are and being that I was raised on a farm, we didn't go around crying about special rights unless you chose to come onto posted private property and then you might find yourself looking down the barrel of a shotgun. We did it to protect the land, the animals and to keep people from being hurt by a bull or poaching on our land. Hate to tell you, but even in the city, there are coyotes.
