The Trump Virus, 500,000 Dead!
« on: February 02, 2020, 06:24:06 am »
I have been trying to follow this epidemic in China. It is quite obvious given the extreme measures they have taken that they are grossly understating the severity of this outbreak. They have isolated at least 60 million people, they are speed-building hospitals and now they are burning corpses without funerals.  Also, the US is setting up quarantine bases and preparing for calamity in ways that I never remember seeing during my lifetime.

I read that the number of Coronavirus infections doubles  roughly every 3 days, with death rate doubling at a similar rate, lagging by about 10 days... If this we’re to continue unabated the entire population of earth could be infected in 60 days, give or take.

Still I have trouble feeling sympathy for the Chinese given the way they treat animals in those disgusting "wet markets" of theirs and the practices of slaughtering endangered species for their bizarre and revolting culinary practices as well as the witchcraft of their 'traditional medicine'.

Maybe hitting the reset button on our species is a long-overdue eventuality.

It's not that deadly.  I think our species will survive.

I think that the coronavirus is a part of the family of common cold viruses from what I have read about it. Am I correct?
It is in part but also from mammals and birds. I think the biggest part of it comes from the markets that China has that people buy exotic foods from.

I didn't hear that.  I heard they think it comes from bats.  They did DNA sequence and it's closely related.  They think Sars did too.

The three most populous nations on Earth in order: China 1.44 billion.  India 1.38 billion. United States 0.33 billion

Same countries listed in order by area: US 3.8 million square miles.  China 3.7 million square miles.  India 1.27 million square miles.

In India, there are 650 million people that do not have toilets in their homes..... twice the population of the US in a country less than half the size of the US are using the street as a latrine.

Jesus Christ. I feel like washing my hands after typing this.

Much of the rest of the world isn't much better and yet somehow it's all our fault.

This modern belief we have in western nations that it's all our fault or all caused by colonialism is so effing laughable it makes me sick and it's just assumed to be true at many levels of society, in the government, and at the UN.

Almost all there places were horribly backwards awful places before europeans left Europe!  Many places were wealthy because becauze of resources too or the fact that trade routes passed through their land.  We no longer live in such a world.  Nations that are wealthy are technologically advanced and highly educated.  Europeans can look back to Ancient Rome and Greece for the foundations of our technology advanced culture.  Many places do not have that as well.  None of this is our fault however.

You left out Egypt, Persia, Japan. Perhaps a course in the early trade routes would be beneficial to your ignert racist azz. Here's an EZ guide to get started

It was great until I started bragging about how great it was and then it turned into a blizzard. But there is only 45 days until the vernal equinox. I'm pinning a lot of hope on that.

I specifically mentioned trade routes, dumb azz.  It's like I bring it up and you act like I didn't and try to take credit for mentioning its previous importance.

I also said most.  Japan is an exception.  I commend them.  The Muslim worlds golden age ended with the renaissance... look it up.  It's almost exact to the date.  The Islamic world was good at preserving knowledge from the ancient world and the Arabic number system was good, but it never achieved anything close to what Rome did.

The Islamic world flourished mostly due to over land trade routes and the fact that the Roman Empire fell.  Once Europe recovered they returned to their backward state.  Not even oil can save most Muslim nations except tiny Emirates.

Once upon a time having more farm land could make you a world power.  Egypt was the breadbasket in ancient times.  France for many centuries was more powerful than England during medieval times because France has a lot more farm land and a better climate.

As I said, we no longer live in such a world.

We live in a world where technologically advanced highly educated nations are wealthy.  You either get with the program or suffer.   If other nations choose not to get with the program, that is their choice and they can sleep in the bed they made.

They stormed the East and the west and conquered China many parts of the Middle East.

They were so effective because they were horsemen, the composite bow (which was not effective in the land of the ice and snow where I come from).  They were hard men and disciplined too.  I do believe if you gave hitler 9 million men like me we'd all be speaking german.  It can do a lot.

I'm sorry. I really can't stand the Chinese. I hold them responsible for what they have done to the elephants, tigers, pangolins, sharks and Sterling Heights.

And the environment.

I don't blame all the Chinese because like some they don't realize what the government is doing to them.

My niece posted a video on Facebook of them cooking a live dog and pouring boiling water over it in a giant wok.  I couldn't watch more than a few seconds of it.  That dog was like my dogs and in such pain and just wanted out.  I don't want to watch that  😭

They realize but can't do much about it after the Tiananmen Square protests which caused the deaths of hundreds to thousands of Chinese. Complete government power.

When my daughter worked there she couldn't eat much of the local food there.

Exactly. Complete government power. More government= less liberty, always.

Support Hong Kong.
