You are correct. I didn't remember it, but there it is.

Genesis 5:3-4

"When Adam had lived 130 years, he fathered a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth. The days of Adam after he fathered Seth were 800 years; and he had other sons and daughters."

All I can find about the incest thing is, arguing if it was forbidden because it was a sin or a law to protect for genetic defects since enough generations had passed from Adam and Eve and they would begin to manifest themselves. I know it can seem "gross" to view this act from today's moral standpoint, but if we our all descendant's from Adam and Eve, then we're all family members to begin with. So there is that to think about.

And before someone from the evolutionary camp comes in here saying something. Ya, you are pretty much in the same boat of doing your kin also - if you think about it.
Incest has be around for ages .... no shock there.

So either the bible is sexist or its just a bunch of mumble jumble meant to explain away things that have no explanation in a rational, logical way, still doesn't answer the question of where did the woman come from, which according to the bible it was just an incestuous relationship, no wonder monkeys are smarter than most humans

Joanna, you should probably close your mouth a little more often and listen.  You do nothing but jump to conclusion and berate anything you don't understand, while not even trying to even attempt to learn yourself. I don't have all the answers, I doubt no man does. I also haven't picked up a Bible in over 20 years. So even my knowledge is rusty. I've told you this before.

Look, the six O'clock news doesn't explain how the gas man delivered the gas to the gas station, but you can infer he did because you are able to put gas in your tank. right?
Oh, and it didn't mention all the women in town who had nothing to do with said delivery, must be sexist  ....right?  Dear God, seriously?

For the love of everything that is good. Settle the fuq down and go get laid. lol.

I am very late in this conversation but one needs to look at the times that the bible was written.
Look how long in history it took for woman to get the right to vote or the same pay or opportunities as a man ..... it is what it WAS.
Today is different.
I will probably get bashed for this but it's what I think.
There are exceptional women in history and now. But in truth, men are the strongest. I would prefer a squad of firemen saving my home as opposed to a squad of women. That's just me. And women can't have it both way.
I heard a comedian say "Women stood up for their rights, and lost their seat on the bus"

Now, IMO .... the bible is a book of teachings, a guild line that was written in certain times. But the 10 commandments show a moral code that all should observe. Do not steal, kill, or covet .... that's pretty basic. And folks who us terms like "an eye for an eye" need to go back and read what that actually means and it doesn't say revenge.

I am a Pagan, so I am no expert on the bible but I have read it. I raised 2 Christian sons because I gave them free choice. My eldest is more of a Pagan then he knows. I think he is still finding his way.

We all have our opinions. We should all be tolerant of other beliefs.
Diversity makes us all unique.

(Bex steps down from soapbox)

I tried to explain to Joanna equality under the law does not equate to equal biologically. Clearly men and women are made different to do different things.

I agree that women gave up so much more than they realize. Women, for the most part were always honored in western society. They may of not been able to do everything a man did, but that didn't make them unequal. They (Joanna) say they celebrate "feminism",but all the  while trying to be masculine as men. We see this insecurity play out as Joanna rages everything patriarchal. Boogieman under the bed with everything with these types of people, just like Der and others seeing racism in every non-event scenario. Sad.

And of course I had to google it.
Hawaiian royalty in the 1800 encouraged it.
King Tut had massive health issues due to inbreeding.
King Charles II, the last of Spain’s Hapsburg rulers. The result of 200 years of intermarriage (copy paste)
Cleopatra was married to both of her brothers. In fact, only six individuals filled the 16 great-grandparent roles on Cleopatra’s family tree.  (copy paste)

True there are definite physical differences also some emotional differences between men and women and both have played some pretty important parts in history and in modern times as well. I don't care what a person believes as long as they don't push their beliefs onto others

Very interesting.  Thank you.

I guess Cleopatra really did have herself smuggled into Julius Caesar's chambers due to her and her brother feuding. We see the scene play out in Elizabeth Taylor's movie "Cleopatra".

She also killed herself after her lover Mark Anthony killed himself after learning falsely she was dead.  I wonder if this is where Shakespeare got the ending to Romeo and Juliet from.

Yep, I thought I remembered the Biblical.teachings of it but wasn't sure. I could have gotten my Bible down and looked it up but I guess I was being lazy. Lol.
Actually, your posts about incest isn't too far iff in some ways. My late father in law's family moved into town for hin to date girls because it was going to.be that he was almost dating cousins.  Some in his family ended up marrying cousins but they were so far down the line that it didn't matter.

Yes, royalty often married within the family. I also believe they did in Biblical times also.

First off your example is not applicable, secondly I never said celebrate feminism, thirdly I don't rage and I am definatly ok with being a woman and in no way try to be masculine except for the rare case of wearing a flannel shirt due to it being cold as a well diggers ass outside so you are placing your assumptions on the wrong gal, now go make me a sandwich

It is very applicable. And the absurdity you put on it, is the same absurdity other see you when you make such nonsensical claims that the Bible is "sexist" because it didn't mention women in one instance that didn't need to be mentioned to further the story line. For something to be not "sexist", that it needs to mention women or insert women in everything is beyond ludacris and shows how delusional and disconnected you fanatical liberal feminist are from reality.

You may deny you're a feminist all you want, but given the above intensity of your "sexist" rant you just displayed to everybody- Your actions speak louder than words.

No it isn't applicable just because its logical doesn't mean it applies, and its not how many times women are mentioned in the bible its in the content of how they are mentioned, ie: women should obey their husbands that crap is even in wedding vows, I am not fanatical perhaps a bit to passionate about how women should be equal but we aren't and I don't think we will ever be, I am also not a feminists so by painting me as such fills some need within you but its not the reality, sometimes its not what you say but how you say it and sometimes a cigar is just a cigar

Women are mentioned in the Bible all the time. In good context and bad, just as much as men are. And to finish your half-assed quote to push your anti-christian/male agenda, the second half of that verse says (paraphrased) Husbands don't be bitter to your wives.   There are rules for the husband just as much to the wife. I'm sorry if you draw false conclusions out of your own willful ignorance and loathing.

You can be passionate all you want, but let's temper some of that with knowledge before you go off half-cocked on a satanic rampage thru Christiandom, shall we? I think we both can agree on that.

Your fears of women never being equal are not unfounded. If you were equal to men, you'd be called a man. And if men were equal to women, they'd be called women. Even "equality" under the law will never happen 100%. Humans are flawed creature's, somebody will always want what somebody else has and more. The type of parity you are looking for doesn't exist - fiction. And the people promising it to you are liars, high-jacking your emotions.

To you being a radical left-wing feminist. Would you believe after talking to me for 6 years, that I'm not a racist if I said I wasn't? Now apply the same to yourself.

Hi Joanna, good to see you... I am not up to speed on this whole conversation here, but just from a quick speed read I feel compelled to join in and say this... I have read that all embrios in mother's womb begin all the same and are orignally sexless... and could go either way male or female. At some point they grow to be boy or girl... but orignate as one and the same. Call me crazy... but both male and female have nipples... they come stock on all models.
