Forgot about this post. Ok, thanks. I been by Marchant stadium and it is nice to have a spring training facility in the city. The city looked like it went thru a huge transition since the 1980s, was blue collar feel back then...

Everytime I hear of Lakeland in national media 95% of the time it is related to Detroit Tigers...
The poor Tigers, my home team btw, don't get much press these days except when they trade their pitchers away, Scherzer (Nationals). Verlander (Astros).

Lakeland is in Polk County which is very frequently in the news due to it's star struck sheriff Grady Judd and his assault on sex offenders most of whom quickly go free quickly and have all charges dropped or dismissed. It's Showbiz Folks__To Catch A Predator w/Chris Hansen was produced mostly in Polk County because Florida laws allow for such nonsense and Judd loves the camera.

I have been to Winter Haven and Haines City, which also once had spring training facilities nearby back when I lived down there. Very familiar with Polk County, at least the Polk of 1989.  I was in Kissimmee, next to Disney World, even worked there briefly in 1989. I could not really handle life down there at the time with no vehicle of my own, the lightning was scary. One time caddied with my brother and lightning would fly and we had no shelter nearby...

Haines City was the KC Royals and Bo Jackson, loved that stadium and the adjacent Baseball and Boardwalk amusement area. Just across I=4 to the North is a sprawling area known as Davenport FL/4 Corners

You would not believe Kissimmee these days, it's huge and at least 75% Hispanic.

Is 4 corners where the four counties touch? There was nothing there in 1989.

I was in Kissimmee in 2004 last and it was different than it was 15 years earlier. It was less than 10% Hisanic in 1989 and was almost all white...

I remember the amusement park where the Royals played, never visited it despite being less than 20 miles away...

Went to two Astros games, that was all...

I liked it back in the day when all the US Highway route shields were in color in Florida, why did they change it back to white on black signs? Those signs made the area look attractive I thought. 17 was yellow, 92 was blue 192 was green 441 was brown, all went through Kissimmee....

So, speaking of baseball, I'm sitting here watching the Little League World Series teams from Mexico and Venezuela face off in Willimsport PA. Yes, that Venezuela, which this year won it's regional title and represents Latin America.

Amazing eh?  That a bunch of little kids and their parents could slip out of Venezuela and find their way all the way to
the most nazi loving redneck part of Pennsylvania and the national spotlight. Hmmm.

You can thank Rougned Odor for that. He paid for their Visas. Visas would be the legal method. Keyword being legal.

Pennsylvania, established as a haven for freedom, has become one of the most hate-filled states in the country due to the growing population of hate groups.

Southern Poverty Law Center?  smh  Although they did some good in the past dismantling the Klan, that's not who they are now. They've become a far left wing group. The Washington Post, among others, published news indicating they've lost all credibility.

Pennsylvania is one of my least favorite states to travel, kinda old and rusty from its years of steel mills and coal mining. I went to Niagara Falls once and the PA portion of the trip was like traveling to a funeral, WV looked much prettier in comparison, WV takes better care of the scenery around the interstates, vast majority of overpasses in PA was rusty and youhad to go a couple miles off the interstate to get to food and gas etc with one or two exceptions..

NY has similar landscape in the areas near PA...

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on the August jobs report (all times local):

U.S. employers added a modest 130,000 jobs in August, a sign that global economic weakness and President Donald Trump’s trade war with China may have begun to slow hiring.

The job gains were lifted by the temporary hiring of 25,000 government workers for the 2020 Census. Excluding all government hiring, businesses added 96,000 jobs, the fewest since May.

The Labor Department says the unemployment rate remained 3.7%, near the lowest level in five decades, for the third straight month. The rate was flat for a positive reason: Americans surged into the workforce, lifting the proportion of adults working or looking for work to its highest level since February.

The GOP has quashed all caucuses and primaries relative to the 2020 general election handing Trump (literally)  the nomination.

The Trump GOP takeover is now complete!

They are indeed scared of Trump looking like a buffoon, he already is one. I bet Trump will avoid debating the Democrat in the general as well, for same reason.

But there is plenty of time between now and the 2020 election, lots of things will go down before we get to that point...
