"...Trump declares "war" — and, yes, our full-blown constitutional crisis is here
Insane White House letter — clearly dictated by Trump himself — suggests he's ready to overturn the Constitution

The leading headline on the New York Times site on Tuesday evening was, "White House Declares War on Impeachment Inquiry." That refers to the astonishing letter produced by the White House counsel's office declaring that the impeachment inquiry is invalid because the Democrats are seeking to overturn the 2016 election. Since impeachment, by definition, is a constitutional process to overturn an election, that contention is embarrassingly daft.

But that's beside the point. This document signals that the White House has decided to formally defy the Congress and challenge its clear constitutional power to check a president who has committed treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors. The Trump administration has declared that the concept of checks and balances is no longer operative in the United States Constitution. In fact, I don't know if we can be sure anyone in the White House or the Republican Party thinks the Constitution is still operative at all..."

So here it is, do you stand with trump, or the COTUS?
Speaking of war, Turkish warplanes are in the air over Northern Syria today as Turkish artillery shells rain down on Kurdish villages just two days after Trump told Erdogan to have at it, the US won't interfere. Erdogan's bestest pal, Putin also wished him well.

This won't end well.

NEW to NBC:

EU Ambassador Sondland spoke directly with Trump on Sept. 9 before responding to acting ambassador to Ukraine who was protesting the withholding of military assistance to Ukraine, calling it "crazy."

Turn off FOX, you'll become much smarter.

Yep, it has only been talked about, often by trump himself, for 2 years now.
If someone doesn't see it, it is only because they refuse to see it. Or they are just evil.

I know it sounds radical but I am coming to see this all as a struggle between good and evil. Evil destroys and a look at what trump and the republicans have been doing shows only destruction. Team R has become the army of darkness.

Obama our next president or something like that. It had over a million posts. It was under the US Politics forum.
It was Barack Obama Your Next President and it was on various Topix forums, 15 or more including the AA forum and all the Tribune Media Forums. It began the day that Obama was elected and when Topix disappeared there were about 1.4 million comments, another 3 or 4 hundred thousand were removed along the way some by Topix Adm.  and others by the request of the poster. Tribune Media owned a portion of Topix then and popular threads were carried by all the Tribune properties. The thread was born as an editorial piece on the Hampton Roads Daily Press. It was likely the largest, longest running political thread in internet history. Early on it was a thread for racists and while at times it mellowed in the end it remained a thread for racists and trolls.

I have made posts  briefly in there a few years back but be like looking for a needle in a haystack if thread survived. I hung in a few threads that were local and became all over other  Topix boards. I was not a regular there but was aware of it...

Civilian deaths already being reported from Turkish attacks on Kurdish held areas in Northern Syria.  US and European reporters remained in the area after US troops were pulled out beginning yesterday.

US standing in the world continues to diminish under Trump.

Turn off FOX, you'll become much smarter.

You'll destroy a working system over the hatred of one man.

Apparently, you can't name any acts of bribery, treason, high crimes and misdemeanors either. Only some deep thought like stay off Fox.

No child, we just don't want to play your game.  We have seen the same game over and over again for years. If we posted a video of trump raping and shooting a 3 year old you would still deny it.

You refuse to see out of willful ignorance, or you are evil.  Which is it?

Short version of a current NYT piece

from another forum.

The article is worth a read but...it is SO LONG. To sum up:

Ted Cruz was running neck and neck with Trump just before the Iowa caucuses. Cruz’s campaign had been promised the endorsement of Jerry Falwell Jr (son of the notorious televangelist). At the last minute Falwell endorsed Trump with little explanation.

Michael Cohen has said that, at the time he was working with the National Enquirer to “buy and bury” negative stories about Trump (Karen McDougal, Stormy Daniels, etc.), he was informed that Falwell and his wife were in need of the same service due to the existence of some “purported sexually revealing photographs.”

Apparently, while at a resort, the uber Christian, uber conservative Mr. Falwell and his wife met and “befriended” a 21 year old pool boy/Mexican immigrant. Within a very short period of time they started spending time with him and agreed to help fund his business idea: a gay-friendly youth hostel in Miami.

Eventually there was a falling out between the couple and the pool boy. There was a disagreement over ownership of the business, a lawsuit followed, at which time the Falwells found out their former friend had some “damaging” pictures of one or both of them. Cohen recounted this entire story during a recorded conversation with, the actor, Tom Arnold. According to Cohen, he agreed to help Falwell take care of the story. In the process he managed to get (and keep) at least one of the embarrassing pictures.

Not long after...Falwell endorsed Trump.

Falwell denies Cohen’s account or the existence of a picture. He claims his decision to invest in a 21yr old pool boys gay friendly South Beach hostel was strictly a business decision.

Falwell also denies any pressure to endorse Trump. Stating that Mr. Cohen “did nothing more than ask” Mr. Falwell to endorse Mr. Trump.

Sound crazy?  Maybe it is, maybe not

Maybe you can't comprehend. The way it is now, republicans can't subpoena witnesses or even question democrat witnesses. That's the mob rule you're seeking.

Child? What game? Any exculpatory testimony has been effectively suppressed. Mob rule. That's your game, Bundeswehr Jugend.

Maybe you can't comprehend. The way it is now, republicans can't turn the investigation into a circus and attempt to confuse low information voters.

Fixed it for you!

There will be enough of that in the Senate.
