Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has downplayed the record-breaking spike in coronavirus cases in his state by saying it’s mostly young people, that there are still hospital beds, and that most people aren’t dying.

On Monday, he tried a new line: There isn’t really a surge because COVID-19 infections were always high in the Sunshine State. “Cases are simply detected infections,’’ he said, according to the Miami Herald. “There have been way more infections than documented cases. But it’s not really evidence that it’s more prevalent.”

Last week, the number of new cases in a single day in Florida surpassed the mark set by New York at its peak.

Hmm, you just made a case for violent protest.

I read this on a boating forum just last night. Most all of the replies are some version of "those people are divisive idiots".

Does anyone remember a time when flags with a presidential candidate’s name were loudly displayed on boats? Disclaimer: I’m not a trump fan but not necessarily all the other way either, just a moderate good timin’ boat dude trying to make life decent for my family and the rest of the world when I can.

When I saw some trump flags on boats the last few years I rolled my eyes, and went on with life. But now there’s just sooo much of it and recently we had what can only be described as a very aggressive trump boat parade on our lake. What I feel could have just been a July 4th fun-time-for-all-parade with American flags became raging white boaters going crazy with trump flags. It looked icky from the sidelines. I was into Obama’s ideas, but never went around with flags on my boat or car during that time. This is not to start a discussion of who is the best politician, just an honest question of why this has to be a thing. Of course I have friends who are trump supporters (mostly my boat buddies lol) and we get along just fine. It just sets a weird tone to me when hanging out with other boaters flying a political flag since conversation ultimately steers in that direction, and that ain’t what we come to the lake for folks. Just the same I wouldn’t want them to feel weird hanging out on our boat if we had some huge Obama or Biden flag. Can we not just enjoy our fun activity/sport and leave politics for other times? We all need an escape, and I feel like political flags will only divide the boating community instead of growing it. I know it’s probly a small percentage of boaters that are doing this, but I’d like if we could all agree it’s not the best idea, and try to engage with friends about it in a constructive way. Happy boating y’all and let’s just get back to the Stars and Stripes or maybe our fave sportsballs team?
