Thank you for your concern.  I'm more afraid of the rail bridges that I have to cross than I am of the local meth heads.

I had a Doberman once. One of the best dogs I ever had. She was a sweetheart but that changed if someone got in my personal space. LOL
When in doubt, power out.

It definitely made the news.

That article had Prestonsburg as 82 miles from Huntington, Wv. Today it is 72 miles between the two and about a half hour faster than over 60 years ago...

I have a newspapers.com subscription. I always see train/vehicle accidents and people walking getting hit by trains back in the day. How on earth does that happen?? Trains go slow. I'd be willing to bet that the majority are suicides.

It is amazing how those big suckers can sneak up on you.

Tow Boats/Barges on the river are the same.  I can't count the number of times I have been fishing, particularly at night, and had an oh shite moment, look up and surprise, a million tons of barges 200 yards off and coming fast.  I have learned to watch closer but I still keep a big sharp knife handy in case I have to cut the anchor rope and run.

A few years back a member of a fishing board I haunt was run down, a couple hours later they found his boat rolling in front of a tow and it was a week before they found what was left of him. It might have been much longer but a mate of his was supposed to join him, when he got no answer on the phone he called for help knowing something had happened.

Yup.  I'm not even sure that this one would bite anyone but most folks aren't willing to find out.  Adults take their kids by the hand and cross to the other side of the street when they see us coming.

You know how you all want to choke me at times.  My son needs to go a good school.  He's been like a man ... more than a man since he was 14.

My other son is good, but this one is special.

He has a father who exploits him. That's the only special anyone around here will ever see.

Not really, I'd rather not touch you.  Though I have wished that you would choke on a couple of occasions.

Dork.  I'm as pure as the white driven snow Faith complains about.

Kentucky is getting a Bucc-ee's , 120 gas pumps, anyone else have one?

https://buc-ees.com/
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Buc-ee's has officially opened its first Central Florida location!

The Daytona Beach travel center is 53,000 square feet and has 104 gas pumps and thousands of snack, meal, and drink options for travelers. For example, they have Texas barbecue, homemade fudge, kolaches, Beaver nuggets, jerky, and fresh pastries.

Killer brisket...also unique Cajun style iron cookware if you're interested in that sort of thing.  No semis is also a nice touch although Daytona's was full of motor homes during the Grand Opening for the bargain gas prices.

Been there done that! I was fishing close to the Pickwick Dam once, like too close, those turbines fired up and I like to have not made it out.
When in doubt, power out.

Dork.

Says the guy who came crawling back here after nearly a week to tell us all about how his PC (that his son built) won some nerdy Reddit contest.  Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick, how did you get to be so woefully unaware?

He has a father who exploits him. That's the only special anyone around here will ever see.

He hated telling me that a bunch of his wrestling teammates where like holy eff ... your dad's beard looks so luscious.

I have no gray hair.  My mom says I take after my polish grandma.  My uncle, her brother, could bench 450 pounds.  I am very little Slavic, but my brothers and i get our size from that.

Anyone know anything about antique clocks?  My dad gave me an old clock yesterday and it isn't chiming on the hour, only the half hour.  I'd love to get her working again.

They must have straightened out some curves.

US 23 is four lane and a different alignment vs two lane in 1958. US 23 is 5 miles from Huntington, does not enter WV..

I've never been to WV. I'd like to go sometime. I like running back roads.
