I have been trying to follow this epidemic in China. It is quite obvious given the extreme measures they have taken that they are grossly understating the severity of this outbreak. They have isolated at least 60 million people, they are speed-building hospitals and now they are burning corpses without funerals.  Also, the US is setting up quarantine bases and preparing for calamity in ways that I never remember seeing during my lifetime.

I read that the number of Coronavirus infections doubles  roughly every 3 days, with death rate doubling at a similar rate, lagging by about 10 days... If this we’re to continue unabated the entire population of earth could be infected in 60 days, give or take.

Still I have trouble feeling sympathy for the Chinese given the way they treat animals in those disgusting "wet markets" of theirs and the practices of slaughtering endangered species for their bizarre and revolting culinary practices as well as the witchcraft of their 'traditional medicine'.

Maybe hitting the reset button on our species is a long-overdue eventuality.

I wrote that exactly a year ago.   Hard to believe it has only been 12 months and so much destruction has rained down on this nation and its people in that short period of time.

Almost a half million dead, 27 million infected, economy paralyzed, Congress under siege, rioting.....  wow.

I have heard that there is a new strain out of this virus and it mutates faster than this one.

What you see depends on what you're looking for.
What you say depends on whom you are trying to be.

Anyhow, onward and upward.  This is the time of year that I risk jumping the gun on spring.  I'm sure saving the cost of a few flats of marigolds more than justifies the $200 a month electric bill and the fifteen hundred dollars worth of nursery supplies and grow lights.    This year, I'm going to try and contain myself and not plant until six weeks before the last frost, which means around the middle of March.  I always plant too early and then I can't accommodate the size of the plants inside.  They get rangy. The stems are too long and weak because they are reaching for light.  There's comfortable room for 288 plants.

There's a reason that she doesn't do self reflection here. She doesn't trust that we are representing our true selves. She's obviously been lied to and hurt.
Or,she's just a jerk.

It speaks more about her than it does about you.

It's a data point when it comes from her. I find it amusing.

A friend of mine posted a picture of some spring flowers that are trying to bloom around here. I can't wait until spring but hope these flowers don't get bit by winter as we still have this month and March to go through.

It's a disaster when that happens to these orchards around here. If the trees blossom too early and then it gets cold and kills the flowers, it can put them out of business.  I remember one year they were building fires in the fields to try to keep the temperature just a little warmer.

I'm too paranoid for automatic withdrawal.
I pay only the cable bill online.
