They warn people not to enter abandoned mines, Beckley has an exhibition mine that was once active.Coal companies never had the foresight nor the interest in preserving such places for historical interest, just let it rot or bulldoze via strip mining after its life has expired.....
Oh, and if anyone of y'all wants me to look up something with my newspapers.com subscription, just let me know. It has publications all the way back to the 1700s.Well, some of you anyway.
The thought of inconveniencing you had already crossed my mind.
I always try to impress upon folks that the outdoors is not an amusement park, there are all kinds of ways to get dead. Even if you are careful, shite happens.Year before last I was night fishing by myself and apparently dozed for a few mins, woke to see a bridge a whole lot closer than it had been, my anchor rope had somehow come loose and my snoozing butt was free drifting down stream. Over 50 years of boating and never had a rope come loose, but it did that night.
A rope huh!
Obey.

Where is my dance monkey. I would like a ban, my dance monkey.
I had a night fisherman save my bacon one night. I had a coonhound at the time who was a go getter. He crossed the TN river and was treed on the other side. It was like 2am and I had no way to get to him. Then I saw a light and heard a motor on the water. The guy pulled up and said, "I reckon that's your dog! Need a ride?" I tried paying him but he wasn't having it.
That was a dedicated dog. LOL
WV never had wet/dry county system, you could get alcohol anywhere...
