I dreamed I was the local small town drunkard known by all. The location appeared to be in the deep South with dirt roads lined with huge spanish oak trees which were draped in spanish moss hanging down. The era appeared to be in the 40's. I was stumbling drunkenly down a country dirt road leaving town. I came to an old dilapidated wooden bridge. I stumbled across the bridge weaving back and forth falling into the deteriorated wooden bridge guard rail which easily crumbled... plunging me into the deep dark waters below... all viewed in slow motion as I sank motionless to the depths below. The water was very black and yet crystal clear. I sank slowly deeper and deeper, and when I looked up I could see blue skies above and golden sun rays shining down through the clear black waters. I felt too intoxicated to fight for myself... I gently gave way to the waters taking me down. I felt no fear, no pain, no suffocation.... only perfect peace as I sank to my death. I awoke feeling this dream was a past-life death experience. (Although I don't believe in past lives or reincarnation) Interestingly, a number of years later I relocated from Ohio to southern Mississippi where I worked involving a lot of daily rural travel. Monthly for 12 years I traveled the same tree lined dirt road and crossed the same wooden bridge from my dream.

Back in my 70's hitchhiking days I was passing through Louisiana. Rides were scarce in that state and it became dark and I found myself stuck in Bogalusa... which I heard on the road was a rough dangerous town. I also heard on previous rides that I should watch my back because people hated long haired hippies... and they hated yankees. Realizing I was in for a long night in Bogalusa... I did what any experienced wise hitchhiker would do... I found the Bogalusa cemetery and laid down behind the back row for the night. I slept safely snuggled up to a tombstone for a pillow all night long. Moved on next day... until I crossed over into Mississippi... when I met even worse trouble on the road.

Moral of the story... a good night's sleep lies within the eye of the beholder

Some 12 years ago I had a strange dream that I never forgot... but does not look like it will ever come true. I dreamed I walked into a small town grocery store. The grocery was small and retro looking. I took a cart and started down the produce aisle. As I reached the end of the isle there stood what looked to be a Jamaican woman dressed colorfully wearing a little turban. As I approached the woman turned to face me as if she sensed I was there. She looked me square in the eyes as if looking deep into my soul. Then with a smile and pleasant voice she said to me... "You will be something one day, you were meant to save many and be of service to the world". Of course then I woke up and never knew anything more... neither has this been my experience in reality. I've got maybe 30-35 years left in me if I live to be 100. Guess I better get busy! LOL

A construction crew were building a new overhead electric power transmission line locally. One crewman decided while working in the area he would try to catch a giant catfish from the nearby river. So he got up early before work and went to the riverbank with a fishing pole to catch some catfish bait. He made several casts in the river and soon had caught a nice 5 lb. largemouth bass to use for bait. The crewman had brought with him tools of his trade... a 12 inch gaffing hook, 100 foot of 1/4 inch metal cable, and a 55 gallon steel drum. He then hooked the 12 inch gaffing hook through the 5 lb. largemouth bass for bait and tied the 12 inch hook to the 1/4 inch metal cable along with the 55 gallon steel drum as a bobber. Then the crewman threw the bass baited hook, 100 foot metal cable, and steel drum all into the river, and then finally tied it all off securely around a huge oak stump on the river bank... and then went on to work. Hours later after work the crewman returned to the river in great hopes of having hooked the biggest giant catfish ever. When he reached the riverbank he found the the huge oak stump ripped from the ground, the 1/4 inch metal cable, the 55 gallon steel drum, and the 12 inch gaffing hook and 5 lb. largemouth bass all gone. The biggest giant catfish ever... has yet to be caught.

I dreamed a dream. I suddenly was jerked into consciousness to view from a dark night sky looking down on a dimly lit city square below. I had no memory of my life or existence. It was night time and I was viewing a busy city square below lit by olden days vintage gas lit street lights. Horses pulled carriages and people walked about... men dressed in top hats and women in petticoats. I then realized that I was floating in the air above the city square looking down as a silent observer. I realized I had the ability by sheer will of mind, thought or desire to move about above... either side to side or up or down higher or lower however I chose. I began to experiment with my newfound abilities not understanding what or why I was experiencing the impossible. I would think about moving to the right or lower for a better view of the city square... and it was so. I merely willed to move to the far side of the square or here or there... and it was so. I sensed in the spirit one can will and move merely by thought.Realizing this, I then thought to go higher for a grander view of all... and by my mere willing it so... I began to rise higher and higher and even higher! Suddenly old fears of heights came back to mind and I became terrified because I had ascended too high up in the dark skies above looking down on the now tiny city square below. I suddenly awoke from my dream and immediately sensed that my dream was that of my own past death long ago... I had died in that city square long ago and my spirit left my body to float high above with views below. (Although I don't believe in past lives or reincarnation)

We were making a weekend beer run to Michigan. I was driving with my buddies. On the way back I took a back road which led me down a side road which led to a country road which had a roadblock for high water. It was flooding over a bridge crossing over Bean Creek. I brought the car to a halt at the water's edge sitting at idle. After a brief consideration I drove my 63 chevrolet through the flood waters ahead. As I drove the waves of the water began to wave lapping at the edge of our door windows which were rolled down. Water seeped in through the doors below.I kept the car in the middle of what I perceived to be the middle of the road judging by the telephone poles on the right side of the road. Just then we saw a beaver casually swimming across the waters in front of us. Then I noticed the radiator fan was was making slapping sounds, the headlights were buried in deep water shining through the flood waters ahead, and the tailpipe was making gurgling sounds behind. I kept hoping the road would not go lower in the flood waters... fortunately about then the road began to rise and we drove on to safety and on to the other side of the bridge and on to our destiny with a car load of Michigan booze. Score!

Moral of the story... good booze is worth the drive

I was hitchhiking from Key West and found myself with a ride.  I ended up in a ride who also picked up a girl running from the woods all in a panic having nearly been ****. Well the driver took us both home with him to put us up for the night in a next door abandoned house. It was safe shelter so we both took it. So the story is this... we both laid down for the night in the middle of what appeared to once have been the living room floor now empty. I was the only one with the sleeping bag. So I went to bed with her soon side of me... this poor little young woman snuggled up next to me still frightened and trembling. I figured she would not want much to do with another man... considering one had just tried to **** her, but she needed this of me. I was a young buck of man, but I considered her circumstances and left her alone to sleep safely next to me. I became her protector and she clutched on to me all night long. I awoke the next morning with her side of me still, now calm and at peace. I took an extra pack of smokes and placed a $20 bill inside and left it by her side and went on my way.For 40 some years I have thought of this girl and hope she remained safe, happy... and with someone she could snuggle up to the rest of her life.

Moral of the story... take care

At 9 pm I wrapped a large potatoe in tin foil. I placed the large potatoe on a rack in the oven set at 350 degrees. In one hour at 10 pm I will take the large potatoe out of the oven.

An hour later... It is now 10 o'clock and time to take the large potatoe wrapped in tin foil out of the 350 degree oven... now baked to perfection to cool.

What is your entrée?

I must say, we do wait for your cowface stories.
Must one wait upon your potato, tonite?

You have a gift in writing like no other.
This is my first visit in the mornings just to hear your next venture.
Perhaps, you'll share how you met Mrs. Cowface?
