I remember like yesterday my very first dance with a girl. It was at my high school sock hop dance. For those who are too young too remember, this was back in the day when the dance was held on the basketball court... and we all know they did not allow what they called "Streak Shoes" on the beautiful wood floors of the basketball court. So you had to dance in your socks... thus the name "Sock Hop".

I was in the 7th grade and it was my first dance.  I had my eye on one girl... her name was Patty. My parents had warned me when her family moved into the community that they were not to be associated with. The family was bad blood, trouble, but I did not care... I liked Pattie.

Next thing I know they were playing "Hey Jude" by the Beatles and Pattie and I were slow dancing together. We were entwined together as one on the dance floor with her head on my shoulder. I can still smell the sweet fragrance of her long golden hair next to my neck. I felt new feelings I had never felt before!

Suddenly next thing I knew this other chick Susan was all over me and I found myself dancing with her the rest of the night. The following year our small town school was closed and we were consolidated with two neighboring county schools. I never saw Patty or Susan ever again.

Moral of the story... dance
