Somebody with a lot of money and an agenda made a call and said they didn't want anymore stories about republicans coming from there.

Killing the stories would lead to too much fussing so, kill the whole team.  This is, in one way or another, happening all across media. Before long every media will be "fox news" just like they do in North Korea.

That should scare the hell out of every American.  We like to think this will end with trump but the truth is, trump is just a lacky, a useful tool for a while.

"..Did you watch the unfuckingbelievable interview that 60 Minutes aired last night on Trump? The travesty is that the edited version should never have been edited, as we can see from viewing the transcript of the entire batshit crazy interview. Wherein Trump contradicts himself many times and claims he had no idea who Binance founder Changpeng Zhao even was before pardoning him for billions in crypto money laundering.

The president even bragged that he got 60 Minutes' parent to pay him $15M, then suggested they could edit that out of the interview (which they dutifully did), even though he sued Paramount for editing out unflattering parts of an interview w/ VP Kamala Harris last year, and they caved because they wanted a merger to go through.

Mike Masnick at Techdirt has an excellent breakdown of the lunacy. I've been waiting to see how 60 Minutes was going to handle its next interview with the POTUS, and they didn't fail to disappoint. .."

This mentions a fund within tariff revenue Trump could easily spend if food stamps was a priority.
He has used the same fund for other purposes.
Remember he used research & development funding for military.
It is unknown how long it will take to reload EBT cards. I read elsewhere it can take over a week.

Remember when Republicans talk about how great a CR is they removed a Speaker of House over passing a CR.
It looks clear they will have to pass at same time to re open government multiple legislation to re open.
May well be a CR with new end date but also moving forward full year funding bills and towards resolving issue with ACA subsidies.
What if they had $40 billion for Argentina? That would fund over 4 months of SNAP.

Barrasso shoots down new Democrat-led resolution to fully fund SNAP
 https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2025/11/03/congress/barrasso-democrat-resolution-snap-food-aid-shutdown-00634229

Democrats, led by Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, moved to get unanimous support for a resolution that requires USDA to fund all $8 billion worth of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits for November.

The administration, however, declined to tap other sources — like a Section 32 fund of unused tariff revenue — to help fully pay for SNAP.

The new resolution would have required the administration to use that tariff money, in addition to the contingency fund, for the program.

Merkley argued that allowing USDA to only deliver partial benefits would result in weeks of delays for families being able to receive that money, as Trump officials themselves have warned.

Even Republicans worried about keeping seats in mid term elections know the issue has to be addressed.
This is a link. Ideas listed include 2 year sunset on expanded subsidies and income limit

House members release bipartisan 'principles' for extending Obamacare subsidies
It's the first public offering on health care policy since the government shutdown began.

A bipartisan quartet of House lawmakers released a “statement of principles” Monday for a potential compromise on an extension of Obamacare subsidies, which would include a two-year sunset and an income cap for eligibility.

The compromise framework from Republican Reps. Don Bacon of Nebraska and Jeff Hurd of Colorado, and Democratic Reps. Tom Suozzi of New York and Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey, is the first public tangible offering on health care policy since the government shutdown began 33 days ago.

The new blueprint is a sign the partisan freeze is thawing among some factions on Capitol Hill — and that frustration over the impasse is growing. Moderate Republicans in the House are especially losing patience, eager to address the health care issue while Speaker Mike Johnson has kept the chamber out of session since September.

“Congress is gridlocked, and too many Americans have lost faith that we can work together,” Bacon, Hurd, Suozzi and Gottheimer said in a statement. “Our hope is that this shared statement of principles will inspire bipartisan collaboration across Washington and help get Congress back to work for the American people.”

Bacon, in an interview Monday, said he hopes that senators — especially appropriators working on bipartisan talks around full-year government funding bills — will use this plan as fodder to negotiate an ACA extension framework. "I’m all for breaking the logjam,” Bacon said. “A lot of Republicans don’t want to see these premiums go up either.”

The four lawmakers are endorsing a two-year extension of the enhanced tax credits and an income limit on who can qualify for them, which would range from $200,000 to $400,000.

"...Senate Republicans nixed an attempt by Democrats to fully fund Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits on Monday after those funds dried up over the weekend amid the government shutdown.

Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) attempted to pass a resolution via unanimous consent on Wednesday that would fund the program amid the shutdown, which is on the verge of becoming the longest in U.S. history. Specifically, his measure would have forced the Department of Agriculture to fund SNAP benefits for the month of November to the tune of $8 billion. ..."
