Somebody said not enough in contingency fund to fund program.
That is true but judge last week noted last week administration's argument not to fund not credible due to the fact they had already used other funds for other expenses.

There's always money for war .

I posted either this or similar about judge ordering full benefits and how government can comply.

McConnell, during a court hearing last Friday, blocked the administration from halting SNAP benefits and ordered that it pay benefits from the contingency fund “as soon as possible,” and investigate whether other funds could be tapped to fully fund the program for the month.

No past president has ever not funded SNAP even in shutdowns.

On Monday, the administration told McConnell it would pay 50% of the benefits by using the contingency fund. But it ruled out using at least $4 billion from the Child Nutrition Program, as well as other sources.

On Wednesday night, the administration updated its plan, saying that 65% of the benefits would be paid.

McConnell at Thursday’s hearing blasted the U.S. Department of Agriculture for refusing to use the Nutrition Program’s funds to help fully pay November’s benefits, calling that decision “arbitrary and capricious.”

“USDA had an obligation, beginning ... Oct. 1, when the shutdown began, to prepare to use the contingency funds so that the recipients would get their benefits as expected on Nov. 1,” McConnell said.

“USDA did not do so,” he said. “Even when Nov. 1 came, USDA refused to use the congressionally mandated contingency funds, USDA cannot now cry that it cannot get timely payments to beneficiaries for weeks or months because states are not prepared to make partial payments.”

Looking like Lumbees might finally get federal recognition:L.  The Cherokees opposition, but Senator Mullin who is Cherokee blasted them, lol:

"Sen. Markwayne Mullin, a Republican from Oklahoma, who is Cherokee, began questions to the chiefs, setting his focus on Hicks and asking whether he believes the Lumbees are native.

“I do believe they’re native,” Mullin said. “I’ve been accused of being not being native and I would laugh. I can’t control who my ancestors love, but I still live on the same lot of land where my family stopped walking because I am Cherokee and I’m proud to be Cherokee.”

He recognized that to some, he may not look like a member of the tribe.

“I have a problem when someone starts saying that,” Mullin said. “Things get a little personal.”

He then pointed out that there’s a difference between Cherokee Nation and the Eastern Band, because, he said, the Eastern Band stayed back while the Cherokee Nation kept walking.

“But you were fairly recognized,” Mullin said to Hicks. “Shouldn’t you be recognized as Cherokee Nation at that point? Because we’re all descendants of Cherokee Nation.”

Mullin caused a slight fracas in the crowd when he said to Hicks, “you can’t look over there and say they’re not native. You’re telling me they’re not native faces.” He then told Hicks to turn around and look at the tribe.

Members of the Eastern Band were heard muttering that he was racially profiling."
