Lol.  It was red.  The kids said he was in there when they came home from school.  He was probably happy to fly back to his nest.

Maybe the Cardinal was ill, or hurt to be out at night. Have a cat around?

We have some.  I don't need to go out to have quality time, but we do sometimes.  Last night we all went to the store and I made an almost 12 pound spiral cut ham I had out in my freezer that I needed to use and they all helped clean the kitchen and put it away and we had a nice meal.  I'll make a big stick pot of split pea soup with the leftovers tomorrow.

Sounds good except for the split pea soup. That is quality time with the fam, all helping out.

He flew in there in the afternoon.  My kids get home a little before 4 and he was already stuck in my screened porch.  I forgot to get him out until I went to let my dogs out before bed and he was still in there.  Sometimes they find their way out on their own.

Lol.  My pea soup is good.  I but some finely diced carrots and finely diced potatoes in it with the peas.  I simmer the ham bone all night and use that and chicken stock for the liquid and I put all the left over ham and usually buy some extra to put in there.  Some salt, some pepper, and some cloves are the only other ingredients.

I ran my half marathon today and it was hell.  2 hours 40 minutes and some change.  It was all trails in the woods with roots sticking out everywhere.  I almost tripped 15 times and did once, but popped right up (the girl behind me said you sure recovered good ... you popped up before I could even help you).  Tons of hills and my treadmill did not prepare me for that ... then going down hill you had big roots sticking out everywhere so
I couldn't use the done hill to recover kinetic energy (I usually freewheel and run super fast down hill in these trails I had to waste energy slowing myself down).  My feet ache.  It was by far the hardest race I have ever done and only second half marathon.  My first half marathon maybe 4 or 5 years ago I did around 1 hr 50 minutes but it was not a trail run and I didn't train very good for it. The one today I did was so hard when I was at mile 5 I was asking myself why did I do this and just told myself one step at a time and one mile at a time and I can finish.  I probably finished in the middle of the pack.  I started passing a bunch of people at the end.  That's usually a strength of mine.  When I see I have a mile or 2 left it's like a get an extra shot of energy.

I feel like someone beat my body and the bottom of my feet with a stick.

It is really good stuff.  I wouldn't eat it for a long time when my mom made it cause I didn't like how it looked.  Puke green isn't the most visually satisfying but it's sorry of silly not to eat something cause of how it looks.  It's just peas, which I have always liked.

I got my stats emailed to me for my race and actually finished around the bottom 1/3 for my race.  Not so good, but hey I finished and I didn't have much time to train for it and had not been running at all for a long time and I don't like trail running. Maybe I will do a 10k in November and a non-trail running one.  I need to run for awhile longer I think before I do a half marathon.  I don't like my time being so poor and I had a hard time training up for it.  My legs were hurting and I had to back off.  Go back to running 4.5 miles a day and I can do that almost every day and it's not so hard or so long running to where I dread doing it.

I am too sore to make my soup.  I will do it tomorrow.  I am walking like an old man.

I already feeling better.  I gonna run today, lol.  I bounce back quick.  Those hills just killed me, though.  I run at .5 incline on a treadmill to simulate wind resistance.  Also non trail runs don't have hills like that.  I'm not trained for that sort of run at all.  I'd need to do hill intervals on the treadmill for that.

Food that looks nasty can actually be rather tasty.
They do a soup range over here by Ainsley Harriet, and one of his flavors is Stilton and Broccoli and it actually tastes amazing !
