"...Of course, Ryan would break his promise after Trump’s shock victory. The self-styled wonk would, again and again and again, defend the president, enable him, and respond to his daily outrages with feeble handwringing. But the Wisconsin Republican is now trying to rehabilitate his doormat reputation. In a new book, portions of which were reported by the Washington Post on Thursday, Ryan tees off on the president, depicting him as a narcissistic, divisive loon and “uneducated about the government”—revelations that only further highlight how Ryan was knowingly complicit in Trump’s nightmare government..."

Paul Ryan was forced into the speakership, he did not want it because he seen that the teabaggers had Boner by the balls and feared the same thing would happen to him, it got just a tad worse when Trump won. Ryan was scared of getting voted out if he went against the cult's (that he represenented) will. The GOP is scared of their own base than they are of Twitz...
-
Ryan got the speakership because he had a relatively clean record and was in a very safe district, well it was that way until Trump bullied his way into the presidency, he had no choice but to leave and let his district remain R because he stood a very big chance of getting voted out either by a bagger in the primary or a D in the general, that was a solid R district. Eric Cantor was in a very safe R district then his constituents seemed to find out he was a Jew after 13 years of representing that district and doomed him...

Cantor wasn't doing much for his district taking his position for granted. A Tea Party candidate was elected. After that, the inevitable redistricting occurred.

The Onion is a satirical site, TP. Was that post meant to be humorous?

Nope the redistricting occured in 2012 and a Democrat took the seat after 2018 election, it is no less GOP than it was then either. It will likely return to GOP control after Twitler is gone...
I had no sympathy for Cantor, he was an arrogant piece of tape recorder on TV, repeating the talking points of the day, he was boring. Kevin MCCarthy is not doing much for his district either and held the same position after him....

Yes it was, The Onion, more accurate than Fox news! ;D

If you had written this book as late as 2014, you could not have sold it even as fantasy fiction.

Did you see that Mad Magazine has ceased production?

There is proof of that, goes even further back than when he threw Bill OReilly under the bus by standing by him just after getting the presidency. what did it take, about two days for Billy to leave the network after that schtick backfired?

Indeed.
It seems old and tired now but remember that fool screwed up owning a casino. There is nothing in our government he has touched that is now not worse, or complete FUBAR. Trade, foreign relations, he has forever tainted the GOP and the Christian religion, ruined the reputations of respected CEOs and Generals, fox news is even trying to side step away from him.

I don't think it makes it any worse, just an indicator of his moral fiber, Trump sold us down the river, isn't he just as complacent

Pick your favorite bad "leader", they don't do it all by themselves, enablers like Ryan make it happen.

How did he sell you down the river?
By consorting with dictators and believing them over his own people, he is a traitor to America

In the selling of the Tax Cut and Jobs Act (TCJA) leading up to its passage, Americans were promised skyrocketing job growth. In a November 4, 2017 Tweet then Speaker Paul Ryan wrote, “Tax Cuts & Jobs Act will create nearly 1 million new jobs.”
Unfortunately for the American people that has turned out to be just another broken promise made by a politician.
In the 18 months following passage of the TCJA job creation was only 470,000 greater than the number of jobs created during the 18 months prior to passage of the TCJA, less than half of the million additional jobs promised. At $1.9 million in additional debt, each of the 470,000 additional jobs came at a cost of more than $4,000,000 per job. How bad of a return on investment is that for the American taxpayer?

How do you get cost?
It's still a work in progress. It takes more than a U-Haul to move a factory.

Well done! However, we all know that if Ryan was still speaker of the house he would still be the lunatics doormat because we all know they are also Putin’s dirty little windbags.

Don’t you think Ryan should have said something while in charge? It would have made bigger difference than some book he rights after the fact.
Why couldn’t he make a difference by standing up to Trumpet?

True, he was nearly bulletproof in his role due to the manner in which he became SOH and it's safe to say that some R house members would have sided with him over Trump on certain issues.
His only worry was a primary challenge which he likely would have won. So, the author was correct in stating that Ryan wanted to escape from Trump.
