Tennis shoes????????? I shouldn't question your safety gear Pete. Cotton shirts will catch on fire from a fireball. I won't humor you with the rest of the story.  🔥

Took son to get some jeans and it was darn near impossible to find any without holes. The holey jeans cost more than those with non holes. Lol, told him I could put holes.in them if he wanted. He hates jeans with holes in them.

Tell your son not to weld in a flannel shirt!

Counted cross stitch has different counts in order to make the pattern. The bigger the count the smaller the x's will.be, the smaller the count the bigger the x will be. I tend to go with a 14 count as it is a medium x on the pattern. Plus, they come in different colors the material does.

They are, same with cosmetics. Some of the old school "semi-high end" brands such a Lancome and It Cosmetics, also  high end brand YSL and Giorgio Armani Beauty are actually owned by drugstore brand L'Oreal which also owns Maybelline and Garnier.
Coty the makers of that horrible smelling drugstore lose face powder also owns Marc Jacobs and Gucci brand cosmetics. They also own drugstore brands CG and Rimmel London.
Also are private label "brands" which manufacture many products for many companies and even ingredient rights owned, which are sold to indie companies, such as Tati's Halo Beauty brand.

On a different twist, there are food products that are the same thing but has additional ingredients, like a Hershey bar, a Mr Goodbar is a Hershey bar with peanuts, krackel is a hershey bar with rice, etc. think Milky Way and Snickers are the same thing with exception Snickers has nuts..

Cereal is similar, Kelloggs Froot Loops and Apple Jacks are the same thing different flavor, General Mill's Kix, Trix and Cocoa Puffs are the same shape as well different flavor. Not including Corn Flakes and Frosted Flakes, Rice and Cocoa Krispies, etc which are billed as same product different flavor, Mounds and Almond Joy are the same thing one has nuts.

Black & Decker and Dewalt but on a much larger scale. General Motors, Ford Lincoln Mercury, Dodge Plymouth.  Basically the big 3 each produced multiple versions of the same car.

If one does the research, it can all be traced back to huge parent conglomerates which own the companies making brand names and store brands, all using the same base ingredients but tweaked to cater to different tastes.

Is also the same with stores, for example in US, you have Aldi's, which is a Dutch company. In Netherlands the stores are much different than in the states. They are more like a department store in Netherlands and of course sell brands not found in the states.  There are also in Europe the British Primark stores which are different in each country where they exist but also basically the same. They launched some stores in the US, in the New England states which i here are really coming for the Walmart stores there. Will likely be Primark stores all over the US in about a decade.

Still?  That was happening when i left the states nearly four yrs ago. I would find a good indie brand and research where the food is made and also from where they get their ingredients. Anything from China or anything with grain as first ingredients, forget it.

My mom used to raise Too's as well as Macaws,Amazons and various small parrots. I do not agree with breeding them of course but if one is the right personality etc they are amazing pets. Not for everyone of course. I had three Macaws and a DYH Amazon when i lived in NY. Had to rehome them as the move to Europe with quarantine and seven hour flight etc would have been too much stress for them. Miss them a lot but they are doing well.

They are super intelligent, one of the best talkers.  They for sure are not for everyone, they are super loud, messy, destructive and no matter how tame they will still bite now and again. Also they cannot be left alone much and they need a lot of attention. Are common household items such as nonstick cookware you cannot use when you have birds.

Has anyone else been watching react channels about this girl? I will not watch her channel for the reason every view is actually paying her to kill herself. I have watched some of the react channels about her. Apparently, she is finally getting help but i wonder if is already too late. At her stage of anorexia or whatever she has, her organs have likely begun to shut down. Is said her mom is alcoholic but still, she has eyes, she can see. Who lets their daughter get to this point? If one of our kids was even close to looking like this i would be getting a mental health writ and to hospital she would go,as many times as it takes. I hope she is truely getting help and is not too late for her. Even her legs are turning red de to heart issues. She seems like a nice person but for sure with serious problems.

Your kids are a healthy weight as are ours. Eugenia looks like an Auschwitz victim. If any of our kids came even halfway close to looking like that, at any age, to hospital they would go. She looks as of she will be lucky to live until end of this month. I hope she is not lying about getting help just to get everyone off her back.

I really do not understand YT sometimes. They took add money from people like Obsolete Odity, who just tells stories of old mysteries and such,as well as other nice channels, yet they pay people to slowly kill themselves.  Eugenia is not the only one on there, are on the other side of it, many morbidly obese persons making six figures in ad-sense money to slowly suicide in front of online audience.

Glad to hear u found a good home for them. Did u like living in NY? How do u like living in Europe? Is cost of living about the same?

Not sure how it is now but when we were in Europe on 2003, cost of living was cheaper there than here. We lived on about $160.00 the whole month we were there. That was buying foods or eating out.

I was used to NY having been born there and lived there until age 15. Then i went to live my grandmother in Lisse, Netherlands. NY could not hold a candle to Netherlands.
After those yrs when i did return for about seven yrs, NY seemed lack luster. Back in Europe nearly four yrs and i love it. I feel more comfortable and at ease here. We moved to England from Leiden,nl last fall. I do not like England nearly as much as Netherlands or other countries i have been to. But it is do-able and we plan to live in a few countries over the next ten yrs.

Well i never lived in Ukraine so i cannot say about there, but groceries are certainly not that cheap in Netherlands or England. Of course it depends upon wat one eats. We eat healthy, mostly whole foods. In Netherlands was a bit cheaper, as much of the produce, dairy and meat is grown there. Luka, Fiene and Maddy are the only one here who eat meat BYW.  In UK is a bit higher.  We spend over 700 euros a month, more close to 800. Of course we have five kids and also takes a lot to feed Luka. Giants do not eat light. And of course Louis get his nourishment from me.

She has to be supervised by a doctor at a rehab for eating disorders. Her body has to slowly be reintroduced to food. If she were to begin eating normal portions she would die.

I had a male pet Iguana for 14 years. He was very tame except during mating season around Feb/March for a few weeks, he became agreessve, territorial. I kept my distance during this time and kept him in his room most of the time during this period. Some Iguanas are nasty all the time, and some are tame. It is said that female iguanas are more passive than males. But my male Iguana was tame, I got lucky. Iguanas are like people, they have their own personality. I wouldn't recommend them if you have small children around. They can be nice one minute and turn to nasty the next, you just never know...

I've had green Anoles that lived 7 years for me, way past their life span of 4 years. The advantage to these is they don't take up alot of room if your limited to space. They only eat live crickets, I hated to feed them these live crickets, but that's all they eat. I had 4 in a tank at once, a 55 gallon high tank filled with a couple of plantsfor them ti sit on and branches for them to climb on. You can place an indoor ourdoor green rug mat for the bottom which is easy to clean or replace. The tank must be cleaned out at least once a month so mold or resudue or bacteria don't build up in there.I poured boiled water over the branches every couple of months to get rid of mold or bacteria or mildew. Keeping the tank clean is very important for their health. I kept them in another small tank as I cleaned their 55 gal. tank. I also made them a cage for them to soak up sun outside during the warm spring and summer months. During the winter I placed 2 reptile lites on top of the screeened lid top. And gave them a basking bulb for them to keep warm. They must have a warm area of 80 degrees in one or two spots, this is good for their digestion.

Boy this is turning into a book, sorry lol.

Anyway I find that Anoles are pretty easy to take of. Oh, just a note, during mating season they may attack each other and have to be sepparated, gotta give them plenty of space, that's why I had them in a 55 gallon tank, but still they would fight occasionally and I had to seppaatee them, they would fight to a bloody mess.

Oh, one more very important thin. How they got their water was to spray the plant leaves a couple of times a day. I also filled a lid like a butter dish lid so they can reach the water. But this lid must be clean and refilled with fresh water almost daily. And sometimesthey will poop in their water dish, gotta keep an eye on that.

Ok, I think that's it for Anole care. Good luck if u get one.
Title: Re: Random stuff
Post by: Jackie on February 17, 2019, 02:31:23 pm
Just thought of something that's important regarding cleaning an Anole tank. I said I cleaned my 55 gal. high tank once a month thoroughtly, but depending on the size of the fish tank, the smaller it is the more cleaning it needs, to rid of the feces, bacteria, mold etc. These creatures can get a bacteria infection from these things very easily and die from it. So keeping the tank clean is very important. AND when cleaning the tank only use mild soap like Ivory dish soap. DO not use harsh chemical soaps when cleaning the tank, as they can ingest the chemical when they lick the glass when they are thirsty for water ( I forgot to mention that, they lick the dew drops of water not only on the plants but also the glass when you mist the tank with a plant sprayer)

One more thing, when you boil the wooden branches, make sure the are completely dry before putting them back into their tank. As they can have mold on them if not completely dry. I did add some plastic branches for them to climb on which is safer and easier to clean.

ONE more thing about an outdoor cage Anoles. I made mine, BUT you can buy a small cage already made at any pet shop. I bought a cylinder cage about 2 feet high, with a top alrady on. But I still taped the top down as their were gaps for them to ecscape. If they ecscape they will survive the summer and spring months outside, but will die as soon as it gets cold.

One more thing about using MILD DISH SOAP when cleaning the tank, don't use alot only a quarter size mixed in the water depending on the size of the tank. Even dish soap can harm them. I used around a 1/8 inch cup full or so for my 55 gallon High fish tank. Just don't use alot of the soap.

Thanks, reptiles are really cool pets, but they do require alot of care, any retile really. But I find Green Anoles live the longest in captivity, I don't know about turtles, I never had one, but GreenTree Frogs are really tough. Mine only lasted no more than a year or two in captivity. Tree Frogs develop a spot disease on their skin and even a vet can't do anything for them, as I found out. They gave me a medicine called Tetracyclin to rub on their skin, but it did not work :(

If you like Iguanas maybe their are Iguana Sancuaries that you could go visit them, I don't know if that exists, but I think some zoos have them, something to check into.

Much like parrots, then. A parrot can be docile most of the time but when mating season comes they be trying to slash you! They also tend to get aggressive if something frightens them and by something i mean objects like a new lamp or you change hair colour. Does not take much. They will come at you, trying to force you away from the "scary new item".

They are probably peaceful to watch, running about in their tank. Until they get into a fight! Fighting is not an issue i had much with parrots although it can happen. When my mom had them it was usually the small parrots which would get into fights. Of course hers was a breeding set up which is much different than just pets as i had. I hated the breeding esp when the chicks hatched and within days were taken from their parents to be handfed. Not a good business.

Just like parrots in a way. They put their food in their water and you always have to keep changing it. The smaller ones will also mess in it.

I will not be getting any lizards, my cats would kill them. Also, from Spring to late fall we are gone from home nearly every weekend. I do not even have parrots anymore. I rehomed my when i left the states. The trip etc would been to stressful for them. They are doing well. I made certain they went to a person who had experience and i knew would be good to them.

I was just curious. My BIL has constrictor snakes. He has mentioned getting some type of lizard. Cannot recall the name of.

Nothing to be scared of really. Yes, alot of festivals will have them on site to explain the needs of them which is a good thing. Glad you got over your fears of them. Alot of people miss understand them. I always had a fear of snakes, but now I don't. They are just trying to survive, they don't purposely want to harm anyone unless they feel threatened.

Same with Iguanas, mine hated when I wore bright colored clothes like red, he would swat his tail at me. I had to wear Iguana proof clothes. Did your parrot talk?

They are probably peaceful to watch, running about in their tank. Until they get into a fight! Fighting is not an issue i had much with parrots although it can happen. When my mom had them it was usually the small parrots which would get into fights. Of course hers was a breeding set up which is much different than just pets as i had. I hated the breeding esp when the chicks hatched and within days were taken from their parents to be handfed. Not a good business.

The Anoles were fun to watch as they jumped around in their tank, and they change color from green to brown depending on the temperatere and mood. Green meant content, dark brown meant irritated.

What was different about the breeding set up than your pets set up? Did they have to have a certain temperature?

Just like parrots in a way. They put their food in their water and you always have to keep changing it. The smaller ones will also mess in it.

I will not be getting any lizards, my cats would kill them. Also, from Spring to late fall we are gone from home nearly every weekend. I do not even have parrots anymore. I rehomed my when i left the states. The trip etc would been to stressful for them. They are doing well. I made certain they went to a person who had experience and i knew would be good to them.

I was just curious. My BIL has constrictor snakes. He has mentioned getting some type of lizard. Cannot recall the name of.

That's good u found a good caring home for your parrots, will make the transition easier for them.

Constrictor snakes, how many does he have? I could never feed them live mice. Monitor's are huge, well I hope he has good luck with them.

My stupid cousin, who lives in the states, had wolf hybrids. Unfortunately, he never cared for them as he claimed he did. He never had them altered or even vaccinated. There were multiple litters of puppies, yr after yr, one female died then a male. Then was parvo and mercifully wiped them all out of their misery, being kept in disgusting muddy pens. Was a horrible needless disaster. One of many reasons i decided to cut off contact with him.I simply could not take anymore of his bs, his lies and excuses or his sob stories. He turned out to be a total fake. Nothing as he claimed to be. I never knew him until about 2008. We had been talking on YT then FB for several yrs. One day he posted his linage and i saw some of my own fam there. But he had lied about everything as was revealed over the last few yrs.

Sorry to hear that.Sometimes if relatives don't see eye to eye, it's best to stay away, to avoid friction. I used to think the opposite, and try to be friends, but in some cases it cannot be done, I found out as I got older.

I am a firm believer in letting go that which no longer serves and which brings stress, wastes one's time and resources. Life is too short for such nonsense and constant drama. I give people a chance, a few have been given two chances, is up to them how it goes from there.

I have been a dancer since i was a child. Beginning with ballet. Then i saw belly dancing and bye bye ballet. The only fear is that brief moment of stage fright just before i step onto the stage but once i begin is gone and i only feel the music and the audience.

Indeed.  If not for my dancer's abs i would likely needed a c section to birth Louis. They were prepping me for it, after 12 hours of intense labour and pain had left me exhausted. I  took a few deep breaths and with all my strength i had left gave a few strong pushes and out he came. Then i went out like a light and never saw him until two hours later.

Indeed. I can still do bourree and pointe. The problem with ballet is it consumes the dancer and often all for not. Is very difficult to get and keep a significant spot in a ballet company. One injury and you are replaced. Also it eventually wrecks one's body.

Have a bunch, anything with Robert Duval. Not really movies you see at theaters but the Lonesome Dove series, I liked. Secondhand Lions, trying to think of the name of the one with Jack Nicholson,  Diane Keaton and Keanu Reeves.

Secondhand Lions is a great movie. You need to watch it. Has   Michael Caine,  Robert Duvall, Haley Joel Osmont, Josh Lucas and  Kyra Sedgwick in it. Some others but don't remember the names.

Beautiful variations  of affordable housing that would curd much of the wrongs with our nation state. However, we would need to keep an eye on them so they too don’t become the trash heaps of society.

I will explain. What I mean by the powers that be are those in Washington DC who’ve been conniving the people (we) into thinking we have no power or abilities to fight back, yet we do have that power and should exercise it. That is, if only people would be in recognition of those very facts.

I don’t feel sorry for Mark Zuckerburg who stole someone else’s work and pretended it was his own. He’s the same criminal as Bill Gates of Microsoft who also stole programming that didn’t belong to him and exploited it for his own personal gain. - we’re not talking about “Honest Abe’s” here.

Those two companies are a shame and we should be demanding more from our legislators to do something about such criminal activities to curb their behaviors.

Yes, but did you know that even Einstein’s theory of relativity is based of facts that even our Earth slows down time the closer you get to its core?

This is true because when standing on Earth vs space even atomic clocks will lag a few billionths of a second because when standing on Earth you are closer to Earths core than you are in space. So time is relative to the observer.

Everytime I get close to the coyote he runs away. He could never get hostile, It's fact that they don't bother people. Maybe pets if they are hungry enough, but as this video shows, this coyote is friends with this cat. So I don't believe they would attack a pet either. Spring is their mating season now, and the coyotes are about more now to feed their young. Have no fear of them.

I’m not saying we fear them, just that we have some caution when approaching them.

If they feel cornered, then they will attack.
And some even do so without provocation, or when provoked.

You should have a healthy respect of all wild animals. Sorry but I don't trust coyotes nor do I want to like them. Coydogs are another one I don't like. We had to shoot them on the farm for killing calves and once an animal gets the taste of blood in it they will continue to kill. Oh and you are wrong about them attacking pets, they will. Have seen them attack cats, dogs and even go after some people so that is not a true statement that they they won't attack pets or people. It is true they are scared of people but they have been known to attack.

Well like anything that gets hungry enough, they will attack for food. This is called weeding out the weak in the wild.

Well that's just their defense system, just like any animal or human. Yes don't try to pet them, they may feel cornered.
Or hungry.

When I read that you were stating as if those animals would never bother anyone and that just isn’t true at all. That’s why I was only making a suggestion in case that though ever crossed your mind.

That's a cute dog in your profile, a hot dog. I had a dog like that many years ago too.

Well keeping distance is logical for sure, don't want to scare them. But still when I see the coyote that visits me on occasion, I just watch him through the glass door when he eats cat food.

The older ones are strictly outside dogs. The Aussie is s watch dog and the one reason we have owned Aussies as they are very protective. No one comes around that we don't know about it. The mixed mutt is small but not as small as a hot dog, lol. He is the backup to the Aussie, or he thinks he is. Lol

I have to buy more keyboards. I just got done looking, gound Macnally will work for macs. I have older macs, was so relieved I can still get them compatible to the os x 10.6 and up . Was scared there for a minute I wouldn't be able to find any for the older i macs. Now I can sleep.

Just had to get that off my chest, I'm good now.

that's Macally.

https://us.macally.com/products/mluxkeya

pricey, yes, but it has 2 usb ports for thumb drive use.

I have seen the Mac keyboard for over 150.00 for the newer macs, and yes only one to choose from, no choices.

So 70.00 for this is a bargain.

I bought 2 mac keyboards a few years ago hoping they would last the life of my IMacs, I payed 50.00 then, and they only lasted 1 year each.

Just found out these require batteries. So for me I would only use them in small areas like closets, batteries can be a pain if you use alot of these lights, such as the picture in above link, on the entire ceiling. I think I will buy a few of these and try them out, see how long they will hold up.

I'm very sad because one of my best friends passed away and her funeral is tomorrow. I hadn't been there for her like I should have been and now it's too late. I feel very guilty and I will be going to her service tomorrow, but I wish I had done better. I can't get a do over because death is final. Her kids want me to sing at her service and I will. I will be there in any way I can for her children and grandchildren, but I wish I had been there for her more than I was. I haven't been this sad in many years. You know why?  Because she was with me during the darkest time of my life and I wasn't there for her.
I have needed to say this for two days now and I never said it on Facebook and I have not said it aloud.  I picked this place because nobody knows me. I'm so sad. I posted a video about changing spark plugs. I did watch it and I may try to change my spark plugs, but I guess I was trying to stop myself from making this post. I think I will listen to a song she always used to get me to sing for her. I am going to make myself actually feel this pain and if I could cry maybe I would feel better....so Donna here is Grandpa by the Judds.

At 2 or 3 am, having a glass of wine is not something I am going to do on an empty stomach.  Again,  my insomnia is few and far between, something you seem to have a hard time understanding or comprehending. I may go months without a bout of insomnia and than I may have one 2 or 3 times in one month.
