Howdy CD, cold here, no school due to frigid temps and Inam watching mindless tc shows while cross stitching.It is so cold here my dogs don't want to go outdoors and envy the cat's litter box. I got caught up watching a reality series marathon and still am amazed at 60 Days In how these people will go willing into incarceration given criminals in are aware of this show. I don't cross stitch, but I crochet. A local business started a couple months starting yarns and cross work materials and have dedicated every Thursday evening meeting so they can stitch in a community club.

good ole homemade potato soup is awesome this time...I love tater soup. Was 22 this morning and the inside of my switcher felt like an ice cube but I was layered up pretty good so not too bad. Sly must surely be in northern midwest where it's severely cold. Everybody stay warm!!

I noticed some stores have started stocking flowers and shrubs and storing them outside in a fenced area is not a good thing in my opinion. I haven't been well, but a doctor from Israel wants to look at my medical records and I have spoken to him on the phone. In a year, Israel is releasing what they say is a cure for cancer. The doctor I am in contact with did the gene therapy that study. How are you ? How is your family including your wife? It is so strange being able to ask or talk to someone and not be attacked over something we have asked or discussed. You took a lot of heat for posting your wife was driving. This is so nice here. I wanted to thank you for making the tthread and monitoring it ...

I see my temps for overnight and it goes from 21 degreees at 10 PM to about 30 degrees by morning, temps will rise as the cold front plaguing us blows past us and goes back to a normal low for this date.

I’ve had some dreams like that myself and a couple woke me straight up! But I have had some that were great as I awoke with a smile on my face cause they were that good. lol
My day went well and now I’m home relaxing and reading "The Calculating Stars" by Mary Robinette Kowal. it's pretty good in my opinion, but I don’t know if you’re into any science fiction novels.
Hope you are sleeping well and feel better. Sorry to read that you have cancer, CD, cause I lost a family member due to cancer and wish you will get well very soon.

The Rams are good and they may be very good for a few years, still rather young group that is gonna get better and being in LA anticipating their $$$$ price tag of a stadium opening in two years.

Sounds like I need to order some of her books. I was looking at some of her works on Amazon and they look intriguing. Can you suggest some? It would be appreciated if you would.
It sickening to watch as your member of the family slowly wastes away as the pain becomes so unbearable.
And I think I was in as much pain as he was before and after he left....and that took nearly a year of my life for the pain of it all to subside.
And I do hope you’ll get better to be around for the sake of your family and friends that surround you in life, and here.
I’m no fallower of any religious affiliation, however, I will wish you the very best for a speedy recovery because I think that all of us here, to include myself, want you around for more fun, laughs and touching moments like the ones you’ve expressed on this forum. A different note, When I was stationed in San Diego I really never met many Chargers fans. SD is not really a true home team city, when I seen them play many times there were mostly fans of the other team there esp Raiders and Broncos. SD is full of military personnel from different parts of the country and the military puts the vast majority of butts in the seats.

I think that’s the most precious moments in time is when you have a child. They are so innocent and explore everything.
I remember when my little one was born into this world so happy...and she is still my happy girl. I love her to no end in sight.

She is so precious to me and I’v always been very proud of her.

Yeah, I agree. I couldn’t just let her cry in her crib, so I’d get her out and take her a walk outside, or just sit and be with her in the living room. Sometimes with the TV on, but usually I’d just sit there to talk and play with her.

Their little feelings can be hurt so easy by their parents, or friends in school, but it’ll work out with time.

Each child had their own personality, so you have to treat them with a slight difference from the other. There is a happily married couple here that’s had 6 children and each one is different. Some are like night and day. lol! So you have to raise each one somewhat different because some are more prone to fear while some do not fear as much.
But much of that has to do with the mother while the child is in her womb. They share her feelings.
Of course, some of this is genetics, while the rest it the child’s environment. They do feel any stress, or love from the mother.

You had quite an adventure with so far spaced births. Is true, every generation brings new ideas about parenting. Even when "we" adopted my daughter, she was not an infant or even a toddler, but still books i have read about parenting are a bit different now than those read back then. I doubt any book or "expert" or trendy advice is going to apply to all children, as every child is individual.
I look back and smile, about four yrs ago i had one child, now i am mama presiding over a fam with three 14 yro olds, an 11 yr old and a one month old. Would never have imagined this would be. Also would not trade it for the world.
Thank you. Yours seem to have made their own place in the world which is a hallmark of good parenting. I know some older people who are very upset over their children being on their own, having their own lives. Is that not the purpose of parenting and the life you raised them to have, i always want to ask.

My stepdaughters are twins and their personalities are totally opposite. Their half sister is different than both of them and my daughter is also her own person. Somehow, how our household remains civil, although a bit chaotic at times. No one here has similar personalities. Not even close to it.

Similar for us...the 2 girls were easy to deal with, even when they reached their teenage years. My son was good too, it’s just that I had different worries with him than I did the girls. They all turned out well though, so every bit of it was worth it. Just seemed like with every kid, we had to find out what worked. What worked for one kid, didn’t necessarily work for the next one.

That used to crack me up. I expected that kind of ignorance from Laci because she was ignorant. FSM seemed slightly more intelligent, but as it turns out, she was every bit as ignorant.

My wife and I used to joke that about every 8 years we forgot what a pain in the ass having a baby was. But with each one, it was a brand new learning curve. By the time I had the first one figured out, we’d have another one and it was literally like starting over.
My wife came from a family of 8 kids, so I can only imagine what her parents went through.

Sounds like she is ready for her first adventures as adult and i say she will do well. It is important for kids to have parental support as they grow through so many phases and experience for the first time the harshness of life as well as the good moments. Is understandable to me how infants,children and teens can become overwhelmed. Some people expect kids to be mini adults and to me that is unreasonable. Life is like staircase with many landings and on each landing new challenges to meet. It is also like waves of the sea with new waves forming from the old waves even before the one is completely gone.

I always felt that the job of any parent was to give your kids the tools they needed to be good adults. We weren’t overly strict with them. I figured we needed to give them some wiggle room so they could figure things out for themselves. Our number one rule was: don’t get killed. We can work through everything else. Saw so many of my friends raise their kids in a super strict environment. Would let them do much of anything on their own or make any decisions on their own. Those were the ones that went wild when they got out on their own.

LOOL I am taking this as advice that if Luka and i want another baby we should do so like next yr and not wait a long time.
Luka swore he knew all about babies from raising the twins, well, he obviously forgot a lot. Like how much sleep deprivation is involved and it's affects upon day to life. Or the joys of getting vomited on a few mins before he has to leave for work. And that a baby can for seemingly no reason at all,sream louder than any electric guitar with amp tuned full volume.

Totally agree. Our job is keep them safe and healthy whilst preparing them for the day they step fully into adulthood.

They also never understood how YT algorithms work. Were always commenting on low views of my vids. Even tough i explained to them at least fifty times that vids which are not monetized and tagged will not be in the YT suggestion box which means it will not be offered to anyone to view. I never created my channel to become a famous you tuber. It was created to share vids with friends.

Teenage moments? That too has manifested more than once from my baby girl, but it works out in the end..she knows there are certain lines she cannot cross. lol

She is indeed. And it brings some sadness to see her all grown up to become a beautiful young woman.
Sure. I’m proud of her accomplishments and she will be successful in life. But I will hate to see her go. However, she has to have her space with a big life ahead of her.
I know of a woman who takes care of her daughter, and grandchildren, but that woman spoils all of them. She has not prepared any one of them for life’s challenges because she’s a jealous, possessive and controlling witch that has to micromanage everyone in that family.
Her eldest granddaughter was always treated as an adult and was made to watch her brother and sister.
The poor child has had no real childhood to speak of and all because of her grandma who doesn’t know what she’s doing.
That woman is an idiot when it comes to parenting.

That happened to three really close friends of mine. They were extremely strict with their kids. The parents picked all of their extracurricular activities for them. Wouldn’t let them do much of anything growing up. They all went buck wild as soon as they got out of high school. I even went with one of my friends to get his daughter out of a crack house when she was in her early 20’s. What a mess.
So sad. They never were allowed to grow as they should so really when they were out on their own they were emotionally still children. Just the naive types every street con-artist, every user and abuser and every drug dealer is dreaming of.

Yep, I tell parents all the time I am not my kids friend. I am their parent first. I had a really good friend tell me that first you are a parent and then when the a kid becomes an adult than you become their friend to some degree
We are a balance of both to our children. However, they know that we,as providers and protectors, this gives us the final say on everything. Not to say we do not allow them to make decisions, even bad ones, we do, for even a bad choice comes with a lesson learned. But if one of them were to be heading into serious danger or being blatantly disrespectful, we have no problem bringing the hammer down.

Teenage moments? That too has manifested more than once from my baby girl, but it works out in the end..she knows there are certain lines she cannot cross. lol
Still, our children hold some of the most precious moments of our lives.
Exactly, is all a part of growing up. They have to rebel a little and test boundaries. Teen years can be so confusing, still a child but more and more feeling like an adult.

She is indeed. And it brings some sadness to see her all grown up to become a beautiful young woman.
Sure. I’m proud of her accomplishments and she will be successful in life. But I will hate to see her go. However, she has to have her space with a big life ahead of her.
I know of a woman who takes care of her daughter, and grandchildren, but that woman spoils all of them. She has not prepared any one of them for life’s challenges because she’s a jealous, possessive and controlling witch that has to micromanage everyone in that family.
Her eldest granddaughter was always treated as an adult and was made to watch her brother and sister.
The poor child has had no real childhood to speak of and all because of her grandma who doesn’t know what she’s doing.
That woman is an idiot when it comes to parenting.

Just have to tell myself this is wat we raised them for to fly free. I suspect the blow will be some softened by having Fiene and Louis still with us and who knows we may have one more before then. That is still up in the air for time being.

Me too! I have yet to be a grandmother, but what will be, will be. It would be lovely to hold a baby again, as I still give my son a big hug and cuddle and call him my baby, even though is 20 years old, they will always be your babies.

He was the one that suggested it and that showed so much maturity in him. I told him we would come get him next month when we know that the weather will be better.
We have to keep our children as close as we can. They are our lives.

Thank you. He is very healthy and happy even though the pregnancy and the delivery were difficult and almost lost him a few times, including during delivery,he came through like a boss. Five weeks today.

No, I changed jobs back in October. Now I just move trailers from the yard to the various docks at the business. I still do an occasional local move if it's needed but mainly just play yard jockey. Less stress, better for my head.

Well, congrats on the job change! I know constant traveling can be mega-stressful. When i was doing those tours, I was always super excited to begin but near the end i was more than ready to go home and have a normal routine again.

Flash flooding of the creeks is a nightmare as well.
Wow, be safe out there Icno. I know Louisville has a severe flooding history, so does Cincinnati, most smaller towns on the Ohio has flood walls..
It is pouring here in Southern WV and creeks are up a bit..

Go look up cumberland falls and see how high that water is right now with all the floooding around..you cant hardly
tell where the water comes over the falls...
I believe I been to Cumberland Falls, near Corbin I think. We had a picnic out there and believe it had a rainbow or moonbow as part of description. Went there in 2004, spent a week in the region. Had a reunion of sorts there and spent time in motels on the I-75 corridor. Had plentyof cash that particular year.

Ever try AYR Saline Nasal Mist? It's cheap and over the counter. Walmart sells it under 3.00 each, I use it a;; the time, it works for me. I stock up whenever I get it at Walmart.

Tennessee and Virginia are full of them. Was always fascinated with stalactites and stalagmites. There's a beautiful world under the surface.

After a round of very strong antibiotics, it was gone and then about 2 weeks later, it started again. I took Mucinex, then Sudafed, and still couldn't knock it so back to the doctor again. More antibiotics, cleared it up and boom 2 weeks same thing. So, I decided to try the Elderberry Syrup. I was cleared up in 3 days and knock on wood, haven't had another in over a month. It may not work for everyone and it might have just been luck for me but for the moment, I'm a believer.

I'm not much into caves mainly because there's creepy crawly things in there. I've been to Mammoth Cave a couple of times and the overall trip was enjoyable. I'd never go in search of an abandoned cave to explore.I have been to Mammoth Cave and a few more caves like that.

I'd never go in search of an abandoned cave to explore.As a teenager some friends and I would gather at caves we’d find and explore them. Of course, not all of any particular cave was deeply explored, however, we would explore good portions of them. (sinkholes included)

It's so much fun and one of the best forms of exercise. Also could save your life some day.
I swam about everyday of my pregnancy. Once Louis is vaccinated i plan to take him and learn him to swim before he develops a fear of.
You would probably need a professional instructor to teach you. One who is experienced with persons who have fear of the water.
Of all the photo shoots i have done, the water and underwater shoots were my faves.

I guess it was just handed down..my mom was fear of it I am and my two children do not know how to swim but they are not in fear of it either..They do get in the pools..I am not that scared that I wont get in but if its above my tummy I Hyperventilate.LOL...I won't get into water I can't see the bottom of . I love the ocean but I won't get in it. Lol

I'm not a Ken Ham fan.That's cool. I'm not a fan of Jim Helton but I don't dislike those that are. I feel the greatest gift we have is the ability to to be different, to think different, to believe different, and still respectfully exist in spite of our differences. I can't imagine a worse existence than one where we were all identical.

I'm afraid I was being facetious when I said the "Paul Patton Museum". Paul Patton, not to be confused with the good General George Patton, was Governor of Kentucky from 1995-2003. Patton did a lot of good for Kentucky IMHO. However, he met with a lot of controversy. One of the many things he did was attempt to promote tourism in Eastern Kentucky where he's from. Keep in mind, much of Eastern, KY is impoverished but his promotion of this controversial Museum became a sore point for many Kentuckians. As a result, a lot of people coined the museum the "Paul Patton Museum". The real name of the museum is the "Big Sandy Heritage Center". In order to fully understand the entire controversy, I'd have to give you a lengthy history lesson which I'm sure nobody is interested in reading. In fact, I'd venture a guess that most people haven't even read this far.
At any rate, I think the Big Sandy Heritage Center would be very interesting and I'll probably visit there some day and it will likely be before I visit the Ark.

Fear feeds on fear, so in a way it is handed down.
So, your summer assignment is for you and your kids to take swimming lessons. Dive in! Conquer the fear! You can do it.

My daughter is a very good marksman/lady whatever is called. Her dad is all into guns and he would take her to the shooting range. They have all done archery at festivals. It is a popular activity there.

I have to get past the fear first...I just dont know...Im too old I guess to start now...Years ago I was at lake swiming with friends. I am a metocher swimmer... but the day was beutiful, sunny and warm so I kept swimming further out in the lake. I just kept swimming and swimming further out until I reached the middle of the lake. I wanted to reach the middle. I did, but then I grew tired... then I began to wonder how I would ever make it back to shore!
I was about to panic... but I decided not to die... so I dog-paddled awhile ...then I swam on my back, which I can do slowly all day long. I eventually made it back to the shore. When I got back I felt accomplishment. I may not be the greatest of swimmers... but I can stay afloat and make it back to shore from the middle of the lake. Yeah!

My daughter has a similar fear of horses. She loved riding when she began taking lessons, then the horse spooked, it ran and then threw her. Cannot convince her to try again. The opposite is one of my stepdaughters, who was afraid of horses and many other things, now she is almost fearless and loves to ride.

Well I hope it will. Doing the prep work now. Tore out 3 rooms of carpet yesterday and today. We keep moving furniture around. We are both worn out. Flooring gets delivered Tuesday.

We replaced the microwave a few months ago. It’s black and stainless. The black matches the stove and the stainless matches the fridge.
Those floors are causing a lot of stress at home. Because we are doing 3 rooms at once, there’s no place to put everything. In retrospect, I wish we would have opted to do two rooms and then when those were finished, do the third. We are doing all the demo (removing the carpet and trim) but having someone do the actual installation. I’m too old to be crawling around on the floor....LOL.

I do not think that is too far off in regards to her, she mentioned to me something personal in a PM, not meant for others on the forum. Kookoo's feud with GS started after inviting her to her private forum and become enemies afterwards, seems like she tracked her IP or something..

Almost everyone here has an account at one or both places and will go thru lists of friends and family of an adversary and deliver dirt.
The best thing is to never use FB to contact an adversary or untrustworthy person who has no good intentions, 80% of Topix troubles regarding subject has involved a social media site as well...

Those are actually easy to control providing one only adds persons they know. My original page i added anyone and it was all public. This caused many problems and eventually ended that FB account. My current account, i have kept very small with majority of persons being known to me. It prevents many problems.

It’s hard to recover your good name and honesty back from some who came to know me through the few social media sites I was on, I was burned by someone I thought I could trust. But found out I could not.

I have some trust issues, but I am very honest and helpful to those that have gained my trust.

We have all the old flooring removed. The new stuff has been delivered, but has to acclimatize to the house for a few weeks before they put it down. All that means is that we have to live in a construction mess for the rest of the month.

We discussed it but decided that the two of us, my dog and her cat living in close proximity for the next 3 weeks might suck more than living in a construction mess.
The mess is confined to the front room, the living room and the den but unfortunately, the furniture from those rooms had to be shoved into other rooms.

Yeah, I haven’t had a drink since Thursday and I got sick as a horse on Monday. First full fledged cold I’ve had in over 10 years. I should have never stopped drinking.

They will come to you and discuss, get your side and get the facts before making a decision.. When such fickle people are lost is really no loss at all. Morning all. Just to let everyone know an E2 tornado touched down here but we are okay. It did damage to the western part of our county. Tore up a church, a house and snapped some power lines but no one was injured or killed.

Been watching the weather in southern Florida. It’s been a little warmer there, but there weather is very similar to ours. I’m just looking forward to it warming up and staying that way. This warm one day and cold the next is getting everybody sick.

I went to Orlando from WV via Greyhound in Winter once, leaving a twenty degree and heavy snow weather to 80 degrees with my coat on and people looked at me kinda crazy. Took it off immediately...

Kind of like that when I moved to Texas 10 years ago this past February. It was 12 degrees above zero when I left Michigan that morning. My wife and I took our time getting here and just enjoyed the sights along the way. 3 days later when I got to Texas, it was 74 degrees and I told her that I saw no reason to ever go back to Michigan. Definitely prefer the warm weather over the cold and truth be told, the heat here doesn’t bother me all that much.

I didn't get to see but only the last minute of that one. I watched the two regular season games. Didn't UNC have the lead for most of the game?
They led by as many as 16 I think, Duke tied them up at halftime and was basically close in favor of UNC, they missed quite a few easy shots...
