It is with heavy hearts and great sadness to let our Friends of Big Bear Valley eagle family know that Sandy Steers passed away on the evening of 2/11/2026.

We will be providing more information in the future, but please give our team time to grieve and process this sad news.

that perches in the soul
and sings the tunes without the words
and never stops at all...

Wings of Big Bear

This song is a tribute to Sandy Steers, whose love for nature helped connect millions of people to the wild beauty of Big Bear and its eagles. Through patience, education, and quiet dedication, she gave the world a window into a living story that reminded us to slow down, watch, and care.

Inspired by the bond between Jackie and Shadow, this song reflects on loss, gratitude, and the enduring presence of those who teach us how to see the natural world with wonder and respect. Sandy’s legacy lives on in every shared moment of stillness, every classroom lesson, and every pair of wings rising over the lake.

May this song rest gently where the pines meet the water.

BREAKING: Bad Bunny SMASHES the record for peak Super Bowl viewership as Nielsen releases its latest data revealing that 137 million viewers tuned in to watch the Puerto Rican pop star light up the stage.
MAGA is sputtering with rage over this one...
According to NBC, Super Bowl LX drew an average viewership of over 124 million people throughout the broadcast but that number surged and peaked at 137 million during the halftime performance.
NBC Universal stated that Super Bowl LX was also the most-watched event in the company's history and marked Peacock's highest rated day to date.
Meanwhile, Republicans continue their red-faced meltdown over the fact that Bad Bunny performed his songs in Spanish and called for unity and love. The right-wing counter-programming event held by Turning Point USA pulled in a relatively paltry 6 million concurrent viewers — and there is some speculation that a large swath of them were bots because the livestream chat was largely inactive.
The irony is that Republicans were the ones who turned Bad Bunny's show into a culture war battle. They then proceeded to get absolutely crushed by the rest of America who just wanted to hear some good music, enjoy the show, and spend time with their families. With each passed day, MAGA gets weirder and more alienated from mainstream culture. Who would have predicted that liberals would get football in the national divorce?
