Sounds good PL.

Looked for hot brown and it’s certainly not a gravy but it looks good. Will try a recipe.
I think hot browns are more a Kentucky staple than in other places, kind of like BBQ mutton and burgoo.

Apparently since I’ve not heard of it. Many dishes are known regional. Here’s a link that’s titled Original Hot Brown.

Hey Icno! Arby's is having a special right now. You can get 5 regular roast beef for $10. I don’t remember the regular price.

Hot brown. Is that a gravy? If not I’m not familiar with it.

Had smoked sausage Alfredo this evening. Not impressed but it was recommended.
Well, that does sound like a deal. I’d have to invite the neighbors to eat with me. I just checked my snail mail & I have Arby’s coupons. I haven’t actually looked at them yet but I’m excited! LOL

OMG....Hot Brown is wonderful! No, it’s not a gravy and I’ve never attempted to make it but my Grandmother always made it after Thanksgiving when she had leftover turkey. It originated from The Brown Hotel in Louisville. It was a specialty and often served to Derby guests.

Tonight I’m just staring at the kitchen wishing something would magically appear to give me inspiration. So far no luck, so I’m thinking a salad is probably going to be my dinner of choice this evening. It’s Thursday, and I have to clear my schedule to partake in 3 hours of ABC.

I have 2 dogs so I have help but yes you can feed your neighbors.

I like the hot brown recipe except for the tomato. Don’t like them. Everything else sounds wonderful as a dish.

Well, that tomato is really not needed at all. Sorry about stepping over your post. I was in the middle of typing mine and got a phone call and just finished it and posted without reading back.

The mornay sauce sounds easy enough but I’d find a way to mess it up. Then again, at least for me, nothing seems to taste as good when I make it myself. 🤨

I have a friend who makes the hot brown and she skips the tomato, like you said not really needed. And the sauce is easy to make according to her.
I had Arby’s deep fried turkey sandwich the other day and it was really good.

I think half the fun of trying new dishes is making them your own. I’m on a low potassium and phosphorus diet so I have to be really creative. I’m still experimenting and very limited. Seems everything has potassium so I’m doing without a lot of my favorites.

If you buy any type of Healthy Choice or Lean Cuisine meals, check the labels as they are full of potassium.

I’ll do that. I didn’t realize they would be.

I know some of them are high in sodium and I have to watch that. Not saying they are high in potassium but it may be worth checking on them.

Most fruits and vegetables are high in potassium. I guess anything that grows from the ground is. I love potatoes but they’re very, very high. I can sure tell it when I’ve ate too much.

I know what you mean. I knew bananas were high in potassium because they would have my dad eat those when he was having potassium levels very low.

One potato has 800 mg depending on size. My daily allowance is only 1200 mg.

Arby's French Dip is probably one of the best inventions ever!

I've got a fast metabolism and I always order the half pound version with a large curly fries.

Good Stuff.
