What's the meal of the day?
« on: June 23, 2019, 06:05:24 pm »
Supper tonight is fried chicken which is rare as we don't eat a lot of fried foods, coleslaw,  potato salad, baked beans, rolls and chocolate cake for dessert.

I thought it was going to be a cool, rainy day so I put on a pot of chili. Not that it really bothers me because I often fix chili in the summer. lol
I have a beautiful strawberry cake topped with fresh strawberries for dessert.

Yum. That sounds good. I was going to cook spaghetti but had a migraine headache pop up, so my husband offered to order take out and save the spaghetti for another night. How do you make your strawberry cake? My grandmother made one that was so good. I miss that and her rhubarb pie.

I love fried bologna that and homemade pimento cheese was a staple in our house. My mom also made a homemade ham salad.

I make it different ways according to what I have in the pantry. My favorite way is to add a small pack of strawberry gelatin to a white cake mix, add about a cup of smashed strawberries. Then frost with strawberry buttercream frosting and then garnish with fresh strawberries. I used to make the cake from scratch but I found using a box mix is not only easier but it is also tastier.
