Walmart got rid of their butchers because they were about to unionize.

All their meat comes pre-packaged from Meat packing plants that treat the meat with CO2, and or Saline.

Longer shelf life.
Yet, when you look at the meat in the middle you can tell it’s been mixed with new meat and repackaged to look fresh, yet it’s the same rotted meat on their shelves. I will never buy Walmart meat, because they will even pump the meat with water to make it look as if you’re getting more of your money’s worth when you are not.
Never again.

Those people should get unionized so people can shop for food safety, as Walmart management is incapable of doing.

Our Walmart here still has the butcher so maybe it varies from county to county in the state you live in.

I think I read where Walmart was opening their own meat packing plant but I don’t know any other details. I’m sure there’s good and bad in all stores. I’ve bought meat at Walmart here many times and didn’t have any complaints. However, I’ve always preferred Kroger for meat and most of my groceries. I think it mostly just depends on what I’m going after as to where I shop. If it’s mostly just groceries I head to Kroger but if I need household goods and cleaning supplies I’ll go to Walmart. I haven’t actually been inside Walmart since the Pandemic started. I do curbside pickup. I do go in Kroger now because it doesn’t feel like people are on top of each other and I really don’t like the self checkout at Walmart.

My personal preference is one of the three. I either go to Martins Food, Giant, or Food Lion. All of those have good meat, poultry, fruits and vegetables. Walmart can’t even compare.

And I agree with you on Walmart being overcrowded.

I hate the self checkout at Walmart. We don't go to Walmart very often unless like you posted needing cleaning supplies. We go to Kroger's or a smaller family owned grocery.

I do so much online ordering. I’ve gotten to where I get a lot of stuff from Sams and have it delivered. That’s where I get all my laundry supplies, dishwashing detergent, paper goods, and so forth and then it’s delivered. But, when I need something quick I do curbside at Walmart. I wonder if I’ll ever go back to inside shopping when this pandemic is finally over. LOL

I think ordering online and curbside delivery is the way things will be.

I think so too, PL.
It’s the way it used to be in the 1920’s, so it’s no surprise they are reverting to deliveries to homes, but will it last is anyone’s guess.

We have a small grocery store here that was doing online ordering even before the pandemic hit. As a matter of fact, older people would call and order their groceries and they deliver them.  They kind of set the pace here on doing that.

That’s cool. Here people do both online and stores.

We generally go to the grocery because I like to see what I am buying. I know at times the stores have had to sub things and I understand they run out of items but I may not want the sub item.

True. And like you I’d rather know how fresh something is before I buy it. Walmart has a habit of having rotting meat on their shelves. So I can only imagine them delivering that crap to you with a smile.

No way!
